OMG (as the kids say) Jason speaks truth. I have been driving for some time now, and I have a sizable commute. I currently drive a car that came from the factory with a whopping 90HP (more torque-pounds, though), and MAY now have as much as 100 since I upgraded the injection pump, from 10mm to 11. In my driving this

Elizabeth New Jersey. Inhale through the nose. Experience said shithole.

I own two VW TDI’s, we’ve owned 3 in our family, and my folks bought 2 on my advice. At this point, I’m feeling pretty burned. My 2001 is great, I love it, it runs great, and I plan to keep it until it rusts back to the earth from whence it came.

I’m scratching my head with this decision. One way to go is to simply go to the next best thing from our manual JSW TDI, which is the 328d wagon. While they’re much more expensive new, we’re just getting to the time when used ones are comparable in price although that means no manual for me, which is a big bummer.

Just a thought, but there is no “p” in Arabic. Many english words when spoken in Arabic context will have the b substituted for p. Bizza, Blaza, etc. Probably not the whole reason, but could explain some of the “bumbers”

As mentioned, no TDI’s, TSI’s only come in manual in the base model. Meh.

Ooh wait, I saw this movie! People had little glowing gems in their hands, and they willingly offed themselves when they were 25. Praise be Corolla.

Technically, wasn’t the 2009 335d the first turbo 4 offered in America?

My wife can’t understand my desire for a euro type van. VW TDI 4motion manual transporter van. <droooool>

Back when I lived in Capitol Hill, I used to be able to parallel park my ‘84 4runner in a space about 12 inches longer than the truck with about a 50 point turn. That was when mere mortals could afford to live there. I also received a “citizen complaint” citation when my same shitty ‘80s brown truck was parked in

VW: Buy back my damned car already. Emissions problems, intercooler freezing, misfitting body panels. Enough. My 2001 is far more reliable than the 2011.

Torque Torque Torque. My 2001 Golf has 90HP, but the torques make it so I can go over the passes in 5th gear and pass cars without shifting (I go to 4th if I’m passing uphill). A 90 HP turbodiesel gives you the best of both worlds.

The problem is that since VW has their fake emissions system in the TDI’s here, they claim they can’t do IRS or AWD with the adBlu tank in the way. Also, with the Golfs at least, the MKIV’s in the US came without the tunnel. You can see a couple of conversions where they had to remove the floor pan under the trunk to

They have Skoda wagons all over the middle east, including some with questionable registrations. I think they’re great, I’d trade my JSW for one in a second, especially if I could find a manual AWD. Also, can I please not be grey anymore?

Problem is that the floor pans are probably different, to allow for the AWD. Better to start with an AWD chassis, and add your go parts to it. Since VW doesn’t have an AWD wagon in the US... the only thing I’ve seen is an A4 wagon converted to manual diesel. Big Job.

Simple. If it’s not going to be registered in a CARB state, then a 1999-2003 VW ALH TDI motor, with some power mods to get to around 150 HP. If it’s going to have to be CARB compliant, then it will need to be a post-2008 engine, the one from the Colorado, the BMW 335d are both good choices. Would have suggested a VW

Oh my god I hated the Voice commands on the Jetta so much, I actually went in with the shop software and turned off the option. The button is right on the steering wheel, and you can easily hit it accidentally. Then you hear this blaring horrible noise and a computerized voice screaming at you, no matter how low the

Yeah, NOx is the heart of the problem. That said, keep in mind that a former VW engineer explained that they were trying to save 300 Euro per car through avoiding the Adblue system. What they went for instead is a much cheapened version of the emissions system as a whole. AdBlue is not just a simple tank of fluid, the
