Dang, I really should have taken note and the episode already expired so I can't go back and check. It was a single stanza, probably had something to do with heaven and/or hell…

I think she was doing a lot theater, unless I'm wrong, one of the productions she was in was broadcast in one of those National Theatre Live thingamabobs.

To me it looks like he's checking for lumps.

¡Más Metástasis (Breaking Bad)!

Actually the last third was good, I liked the themes it explored at the end. I'm going to pretend that bit about looking down at the little people was a nod to The Third Man. But most of the plot was confusing and even boring. It seemed like there was a lot of dead weight, it probably would have helped to have a

I'M SO EXCITED
I'M SO EXCITED
I'M SO… disappointed

I'm actually kinda glad to hear she was disappointed. Everything I've read about this movie makes it sound like it goes completely against the concepts of the story. Your daughter and you and I, we all deserve a better movie than what they came up with.

How regular of a thing is Alan Rickman day? Do any other pop culture figures get their own days too?

Had your daughter read the book already?

If it makes you feel better, I also felt iffy about the movie. I thought it looked pretty great and Gleeson was awesome, but I left the theater feeling somewhat deflated. Something about it didn't connect with me.

I fucking love Stand and Deliver, probably my favorite "inspirational teacher" film!

Did they just wear you down?

I always figured Channel 4 was pretty forgiving about that sort of stuff, does it really seem like the ratings were SO low? It would be such a shame if they didn't renew it.

NAILED IT

I only just learned about Silver recently! I'm always on the lookout for female directors and unfortunately none of my peers had mentioned her to me. I saw Hester Street and fucking loved it, so it's cool to hear she's got some other notable works in her oeuvre.

Definitely ready for a new week!

Yah! I'm up to the beginning of S04. I've been writing about it pretty consistently in the Pop Culture Weekend section since it started because I haven't seen any English-language press about it and I figured it might be of use to someone. It's just that since this section has been posting on Saturday nights, I'd

The gentleman she was with sat between the two of us. I guessed it was her significant other but since I know next to nothing about her, I wasn't sure if it was her husband or what. He had a big white beard, I got Santa Claus vibes from him, haha.

Ah, I bet he loved it!

I'm up to Island and I'm not sure which one to pick up next. It's definitely been perfect summer reading, and golly Gilbert Blythe is a dreamy mofo.
