Not sure, but I wouldn’t mind having a super powerful bike if I had some less extreme ones. Right now I’m looking at a CB500 or an FZ-07. Even modern 300's have more than enough power for fun within legal limits, so almost every bike is much more than needed.

Do you understand why the government spends money differently? Do you understand what a marginal cost curve is, how monopolies set prices, and monopolistic competition works?

It’s far easier to bash the government than it is to learn why it operates the way it does. No government is perfectly efficient, and neither is

If you can post details on the issue, and CEL codes if you can get them, it would really help us other Vantage owners!

I’m under no delusions that these cars break. A lot. And it doesn’t matter - I love it.

Right now my CEL is on, thermostat broken, navigation screen no longer goes up and down on its own (after a year and a half of no issue with it), the rear brakes or bearings squeak at low speeds, something whines when I first start

Now playing

Congrats Doug! I have an 07 6MT as well, but without a warranty. No water issues, but I almost permanently have the CEL on. Same as yours right now. Forget the code but it’s evap related. Let us know what yours is (might just be O2 sensors burning out).

Bottom line is yellow lights on the dash are OK. Red lights on the

I had the good fortune of being friends with my now-wife before we dated. I clearly told her that if any woman got between me and my passion for cars, she’d have to go. She has been incredibly supportive of my Lotus and Aston purchases.

Now imagine you have an exotic with fragile paint, or worse, with a liquid wrap that can’t get gas on it. It’s a massive nightmare. I refuse to fill up when I’m in the state unless it’s an emergency.

My limit is whatever I can afford without sacrificing a comfortable life for me and my family. I have a V8 Vantage that I got used and it’s just within my price range. In fact, I just ordered more parts to do some work myself.

I’d only throw money down on a car I absolutely love driving, and one that isn’t going to

Thanks for increasing the motorcycle content on Jalopnik! I’m very close to getting a bike after many years without one, so the extra nudge has been perfect timing!

I’m biased, because I have one, but I think the V8 Vantage is actually the design masterpiece. It’s proportions are perfect, and it has a little bit cleaner design than the DB9.

This car was designed over 10 years ago, and it still looks absolutely stunning.

Thanks for the reply! I got hammered with work today, so I couldn’t test one today. I will soon though.

Thanks. Anything I should know before buying one? I’ve read about the wheels cracking and the cam issues, but I assume they should be resolved by the end of this year / early next year.

Based on sitting on a Duke 390, the info they have in this tool is spot on. Look here first. Your knees will probably be close to where the tank pushes out, but at 6’ you’d probably be comfortable.

I’m going to try to leave work early tomorrow to test ride a Duke 390 tomorrow. It looks like an absolute hooligan for the price, and fit my relatively small 5’10” frame perfectly. Probably picking one up first thing next year [ too much going on right now :( ]

With the new carbon composite that Lambo has started implementing, you could theoretically mold relatively complex shapes in carbon composite that exhibits strength in all directions. That could make a 20 lb frame under 10 lb, with far more strength.

I had a ticket thrown out in PA a year or two ago because the officer didn’t show up. The case went in front of the judge, but there was no one to represent the case from their side, so charges were dropped. Took about one minute.

No, it was the Toyota engine. I’m not sure who installed the oil pans on the engine, but they didn’t seal them properly. A lot of Elises with the Toyota 1.8 have had to re-seal the oil pan. Mine lasted for about 2 years before it started leaking slowly.

Honda CRF250L. Super light, goes nearly anywhere a normal person would take it, is efficient, and is cheap. I truly may pick one up next spring when things settle down for me a bit more.

Can confirm both the Lotus Elise and Aston V8 Vantage leak oil quite well.

Thanks. Had friends visiting this weekend, and we were in a bit of a rush to get out to brunch. Next time stop over!
