Why not just do what Grandma did? I’ve done basically the same except that I store mine in the fridge and not on top of the stove. Many foods go bad way slower than we think.
So what happens if I don’t clean it? I’ve had the same klean kanteen for like 10 years and maybe washed it three times. I think I’m doing ok (I haven’t even developed a gluten intolerance yet).

I dunno, I spent some time in East Texas and most people’s cars cost more than their house and their neighbors house (and by house i mean “sweet” trailer) combined.
I work for the forest service in northern CA. Part of my job is enforcing the rules that are designed to prevent this sort of damage. This is awesome. And exactly what Amazon used to do to wholesalers back when they were just a startup online bookstore. Jeff Bezos has said that it was some obscure text on lichens that they would use to get over wholesalers minimum order threshold knowing that the lichen book wouldn’t be in stock and thus never ship.
