Personally, the game either gets stuck on a black screen or it stops taking input if I use your method. If I am in an area that is relatively dense with stops, it's easier to just keep the phone up.

Sounds like you're salty about something else. Local coop is about the only leg you have to stand on but a pretty limited one. The micro transactions are easily avoided and those infusions add depth. MA was far from perfect so to expect their formula to not evolve would be naive.

I am curious what MA brought to the table thatMH has missed or isn't doing better.

Same network isn’t a fair comparison given that Helldivers isn’t selling systems so there is no trade down risk thus the overall financial risk of allow this within network play is negligible. The same cannot be said for broader cross platform play.

Is this just another snarky Gawker post or did Kristen watch a different movie than the rest of us?

I wonder if cross platform play will cause developers, particularly those with multiplayer games somewhere in the early stages, will be less likely to entertain the idea of console exclusives if this happens. Sony seems to own that space at the moment which could be a big sticking point.

Of course this assumes the servers are remotely stable and will let you log in.

They may be decent developers in some respects, but their logistical capabilities are an absolute failure. Nintendo should be up their asses about this as well as McDonalds.

Counterpoint, the game is not the dumbass here.

Just finishing the first episode. Loving it! Spotted a Goonies reference, the kid actors are great, definitely feels like King and the nostalgia is real.

Yeah, no excuse. A bundle of mint is like $1.50. Cucumber, call the kitchen. I’m not drinking at some hole in the wall bar where the wine selection consists of Red and White. Any bar that is part of a restaurant that is north of Applebee’s should have both items. Particularly now if your restaurant is remotely located

Still surprised that I need to ask for cucumber when I get a Hendrick’s and tonic.

Make sure your utilization is really high before walking down this road.

They gave up the controlled rollout a week after they started which was two weeks, at least, too early.

Bullshit. Queues do solve the problem and plenty of games rely on them once their game has been fully rolled out.

I didn’t realize a controlled rollout and server queues were impossible. I’m also curious to understand your professional experience as it relates to games like this that makes you so sure that you know what you are talking about.

I dont really care that the game just came out. They should have taken a more conservative approach to the rollout. As for the queue time, if the servers are in such bad shape that the average wait time would have been 6 hours then they really did fuck it up given the dropin/dropout nature of this game.

No, this had been pretty terrible. The difference between this and other games is that people travel for this game. If I head out some place and the servers take a shit, I now have traveled for no reason and must adjust. With every other game, I sit on my ass and if it doesn’t work, I’m out nothing.

So they have the foresight to see capacity issues in Japan but nowhere else? This company needs to work on its messaging as the last few things they have said, including the CEO, just makes them seem out of touch with what they are doing.
