Why would you post this? You know this headline is a spoiler. I have been avoiding all Elden Ring info and not even watching trailers so I can see everything with fresh eyes and I come here and see this headline. This is a bad move. I know you want clicks but this is just disappointing.

Because it is a design patent. It is effectively a trademark for a products form or UI so it cannot be copied in order to protect the products from knockoffs. They do not last as long as a utility patent and are much easier to get around and the scope is so narrow. With their limited scope and length, design patents…

If that were the case, the article would be much more informative if it had mentioned that the patent was filed on November 5th, 2o20. It didn’t take much skimming of the linked USPTO page to see that. This was filed before the PS5 even launched and it just took that long to be processed and granted. 

With those words the article is wordcount is 405. Without them, it is 398. I wonder if there is a 400 word count requirement for these articles. 👀
