When the Aldi near me opened up I ventured in there and the produce (most of my shopping) was so bad I didn’t go back. Several years later a yoga blogger I read started doing posts about what she was finding at Aldi and the produce was amazing. Wondering if maybe things had gotten better, I swung by there one night.

It’s been probably 40 years since I read that book for the first and only time and I am still not over Ginger.

This used to be my go-to dessert to make for vegans, but I no longer know any vegans.

If it’s nice, sturdy bread I slather it with butter or olive oil and then stick it under the broiler until it’s nice and crispy and browned, then I pinch a raw garlic clove between my fingers and rub it all over the crispy buttered/oiled part.

My pandemic shopping included four bags of cheese curds and I’m so happy with past me right now. I’m getting the waffle iron out this weekend.

We eat fish on Fridays year-round, whether we go out for a fish fry or eat at home. A few months ago we had chicken on a Friday instead and I spent the whole rest of the evening thinking it was Saturday. Threw me for a total loop.

Oh is it time to shit on Midwest cooking traditions again already?

I’d bet good money at this point that the first woman president will be a Republican, because they fall in line behind their chosen one, and Republican women are not seen as a threat to patriarchal rule, because they support and applaud policies that work against women, all the while claiming it as a feminist stance. There isn’t another option nearby for me since I moved three years ago. I’m resigned to my fate.

I also stopped eating Taco Bell, back in 1991, and never think about changing that.

Plus it makes it a complete meal—meat, veggie, starch, which is the whole point of a casserole/hot dish, yes? That’s just science!

Being both a lifelong Shirley Temple fan and a total lightweight when it comes to alcohol, my adopted social drinking policy when I’m just hanging out and chatting with friends who can have more than one cocktail without getting flattened is to have one alcoholic drink and then a Shirley Temple. A few years ago I went

You just described my childhood with eerie accuracy.

If anyone scattered the tots in this household there would be a riot.

I made Tater Tot Hot Dish yesterday, but our family recipe includes green beans, which makes it healthy.

I’m also Team Garlic.
