The showrunner is Greg Daniels, who hired people like Mindy Kaling, Craig Robinson, Oscar Nuñez, Leslie Baker David, Patrice O’Neal, Idris Elba, Larry Wilmore, etc. for “The Office.” He also had Jen Celotta and Teri Weinberg as two of his most important producers and basically always hires women for top roles at his

“Caping” is when you rush to someone’s defense when they don’t deserve it. For example, if a woman in a feminist discussion group says, “I know that misogynists are bad, but maybe they just can’t help it because of how they were raised!,” she is caping. She’s heroically making excuses when they are not warranted.

Right. “Woke” is also an appropriation, specifically from Black social justice activists and intersectional feminists. It’s actually bad form for non-Black people to use it in many discussion groups (on-line and IRL) because it’s so specific to AAVE and its use comes across as mockery or other offenses.

I saw this on another red carpet and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t remember who wore it! Same length...

This is my entire Goodreads homepage. Does anyone know if there’s a “mute white grad students” feature there?

Feminism is intersectional and deals with many interrelated issues. Improving the lives of children and protecting them is of course important to women. Ensuring proper treatment of all sexual assault victims means equality of the sexes, so that’s exactly what you copied and pasted.

OH! I seriously thought it said “S-TED-Y” or some other terrible pun, like his “TRUS-TED” logo.

The dead gifts are better than the half-dead gifts. :(

We need a “More Prep School Bullshit” tag for these articles. And I’ll just keep hoping mine doesn’t show up in it.

You know that a huge part of feminism is advocating for children’s rights and sexual assault victims of all kinds, right? We’ve done way more for boys *and men* who’ve been sexually assaulted than any MRA message board, promise.

I know a woman who was an administrator there during that period...I’m really creeped out.

You’ll see her in the VP debate.

I’m sorry to hear that, sis. That’s super common; they need to do better. I’m sure you’ll do great wherever you are and that they’re lucky to have you. :)

Different topic, but Jon Krakauer’s “Missoula” did that to me. One of the best books I’ve ever read, but reading about the injustices done to rape victims really leaves you needing YouTube compilations of babies laughing.

I’m so sorry. May his memory be a blessing.

For people who like long-form investigative journalism, the Hartford Courant did a Pulitzer-finalist series in 2002 about the heroin epidemic in a small town in Connecticut. It gets into the history of how it first arrived in the region, how people get sucked in, etc. It’s notable because this reporting happened a

Same location and time. For us, it started when the affluent kids got hooked on Oxy and similar drugs but had their supplies dry up, so they had to resort to meeting heroin dealers from Willimantic (at one point the most heroin-addicted town in America). It went from being something that only the really impoverished
