There is qualified immunity, supreme court rulings that the police are not here for your protection and the numerous videos online. Yes, they do not care if they kill you or harm you.

But all those other assholes are not protected by ‘qualified immunity’. If I barrel down the road and harm you, there is expectation that I will pay for my actions. Furthermore, the supreme court says the Police are not here to protect you. They are here to enforce the law... your safety be damned.
