I can see your point to an extent, but there are some things you don’t even know you need to know at that age. For example, when I was 18 I never would have known that Rick Perry had once been a Democrat and had switched parties, requiring a reelection which cost the taxpayers money, something that a few older people

It’s entirely possible. Children go years being abused without parents knowing/pretending not to know. And abusers have ways of keeping survivors silent. So if the children never speak out, I’d imagine it would be quite easy, especially in that environment, where any telling behavior of the child could just be chalked

I don’t know for sure what motivated the course of action he took; none of us do. But, I just don’t feel like he would have done the same with a male lawyer. I might be wrong, but a lot of times guys do things to women that they would never do to a guy (aside from the obvious) to put them in their place. I know that

He ignored due process when he had her handcuffed.

I think you’re pretty spot on. I really love that they’re asking these questions, and despite what people argue, I think it can only benefit people if they do look look at some typical gender roles and flip them. It just broadens everyone’s horizons. I have two godkids, 4 and 5, one boy and one girl, and as much as I

His face is a lot narrower but sometimes he reminds me of a very young Patrick Dempsey.

Ok, yeah, I can see some parallels with that book.

Yep. He couldn’t call the wolf? Like, not one little, “Summer, let’s go?”

I started crying when Summer died and didn’t stop until the credits rolled and it was mainly out of pure anger that I did. Then I spent about 5 minutes cursing Bran, GRRM, the show writers, etc. indiscriminately.

It’s absolutely terrifying, isn’t it? I have lupus, and for a good couple of years my doctor tried to keep it quiet so nobody but us knew so I wouldn’t run into pre-existing condition problem if Republicans had their way with healthcare. I don’t wish bad health on anyone, but I wish they understood this feeling...

That guy’s a jackass, but I just came to say A+ on the photo.

Agreed. There was an organization dedicated to helping them but it looks like it shut down due to lack of funds.

Apparently her father died while she was in captivity, too. I’m so glad she’s been found alive, but I don’t even know if traumatized is even a strong enough word to describe what she likely is at this point. Those poor girls.

Sounds like you’re an awesome parent!

I know. My godson’s mom- a close friend (that’s why he’s my godson, I’m tired!)- didn’t like kids but she was sure she’d like her own. She has two now, and my godson is the youngest, and I swear she couldn’t stand him for like the first 3 years- he’s 4. She and her mom are the same way- when they’re quiet and unseen,

Completely agree. The people I know who try to keep up appearances for other people and equate things with happiness and success always seemed to be the most stressed and unhappy. But yet, usually have a good percentage of that stuff that is supposed to bring them happiness.

I don’t have kids-by choice- but I do like them. What I have noticed about my friends with kids are that the people who are happier are the ones that actually liked kids before they had ones of their own, and did it because they wanted it- not to make someone else happy or check a box off a list.

Oh I know. The lack of accountability is mind blowing.

Exactly.

Much respect to your dad.
