Women are socialised to believe that in these situations the responsibility is on them to protect themselves. Which is ridiculous in a situation where realistically they have no control. I think its a problem with some of these high profile international murder cases. The local police force panics under the pressure and is more concerned with finding someone to pin it on rather than catching the killer. There a a few parallels between this case and the Michela Mcareavey case in Mauritius.
