There are comments here about swapping a 5-speed stick into this car. I wonder, could you put in a more modern 4-speed auto? No need to install a third pedal, and fuel economy and performance would be much better. I mean, how hard could it be?
Same here. I can drive a stick, and did so for many, many years. However, now that I’m 50 years old, my left knee isn’t so inclined to push a clutch pedal a few hundred times a day like it used to. So, automatics for me, unfortunately.
Ah, forgot about the spare tire mount. I liked the split lift gate on our ‘00 CR-V. I’m 6'4" and I have to duck to get under most lift gates.
Thing is, the current CR-V are not that much bigger than the 1st generation. They just appear bigger due to the smaller windows and wider track. The latest CR-V has a 1 inch longer wheelbase, is 2" longer overall, 3" wider and, surprisingly, 3" lower. The new ones are, however, more than 500lbs heavier. No real…
What happens if you push the big blue Dismiss button??
Just google “knickers the cow”.
I’m aware of that. I live less than 50 miles from there. However, they lost that facility when Ford decided to divest themselves from all their manufacturing partners. Now, Mazda needs such a facility for their products, and a former GM plant may make some sense. But, the odds Mazda would ever take over any idle…
That’s not a completely insane idea. Mazda is getting its butt kicked due to the dollar/yen exchange rate. A stateside manufacturing plant would solve some of this problem. And, the plants are located in the Mid-West and Canada, where there is a good workforce who would need little training to get a plant up to speed.…
Driving an older, high mileage truck cab be a bit of a thrill. Constantly paying attention to any new noise or smell coming from the engine and drive-train. I drove my family from Toledo to Newark Ohio, then to Lexington, KY. From there, to Morehead, KY. Then back to Newark, then to Wooster to drop off my daughter at…
I live in Marcy’s 9th district. I literally had to take a magnifying glass to see if I was still in her district after the map was redrawn. I was, as the line is one city block to the south of me. I live within the City of Toledo. Back in the 90's, Marcy represented all of Toledo and Lucas County, as well as parts of…
I’ve had the heat shield on my Focus zip tied to the car for at least four years. That was one of the first “repairs” I did to the car.
You need a farm truck. Look what we have here. The very essence of farm trucky-ness. My uncle Bob, everyone should have an uncle Bob by the way, has been farming for over 60 years. He’s had Ford F-150s forever, and I remember him having one of these for a long, long time. Pick this up, and have instant cred with the…
Back in 1986, my dad bought our families first brand new car. Prior to that, we’d always had used cars, from a 1960's Mercury Parklane, a 1972 Plymouth Fury III, then a 1979 VW Rabbit and a ‘78 Dodge Tradesman Van my dad converted into a family hauler. So what did my dad buy for a family with four kids? An ‘86 Dodge…
