Listened to all of tempest (tuned in every week Tues or Wednesday). Quite enjoyed every bit of it. I went to looking to see if there was one this week to listen to but realized i had missed this post saying it was the last one. Hope you do more, these were great to listen to.
This is just like when I recall how many pieces of bread everyone at the table has already had when I’m taking the last one for myself.
Subscribed. Can’t wait to hear Walt’s story.
I look forward to once a week listening to these podcasts on the drive home. This one is probably my favourite so far though. My dad was a car guy too, mostly fords . His first was a model t new beauty him and his father dragged out of a swamp and got running and the hearse they carried him off to his final resting…
Man I didn’t know it was in doubt I hope you get the go ahead
Can’t wait to hear season 2 David. Excellent work sir.
Learning to drive manual is starting to be like learning how to start a campfire.
Man David you are knocking these out of the park it is getting to the point I like to save them until I need a pick me up to listen to them, keep them coming.
Fantastic job with this series David, looked forward to it every week and definitely hope to hear a season 2 sometime soon. I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that hearing the story of Walt reminds me a lot of my own dad, and how our relationship has always revolved heavily around cars. It sounds like…
We want zines goddammit!
Funny, I am just coming up on 70 years old, and I still remember my first car, which was, in fact, a ‘55 Chevy. Got it as a High School graduation present, but damn near didn’t get to drive it to the Prom because bad generator (remember those?) and a frozen brake drum on one front wheel (MD inspection only requires…
The real lesson is do not work yourself to death. It’s not worth it.
Jalopnik is online content. That can be written, audio, video or a combination thereof.
What the HELL are you TALKING ABOUT
David, this was a great (and emotional) way to end the season. I experienced a spooky coincidence this morning as I was driving in to work. At the exact moment one of the Appell brothers said “Holy Rood” I was waiting at the stoplight on Old Country Road staring directly at the cemetery’s wrought iron fence.
This episode hit me hard. This week a family friend passed away suddenly. Carl was also a car guy,in his case a 1964 Ford Galaxie. Sadly Carl never got to retirement age, but he was a hard working man with a big heart and a community spirit. This episode shows that we should always endeavor to live our best life,…
It’s demoralizing when you hear or know someone who works hard they’re whole life and when they’re finally relinquished they have a short time to enjoy themselves. It’s very sad that this also happened without warning to the family.
David I’m really enjoying your podcasts! In fact I stopped listening to them years ago until Tempest! Keep up the good work hope they come back soon!
Hey, before that at least, 2/3 aint bad.
Never said it had to be nice watches; not saying yours isnt, but I’ve noticed that quite a few car guy’s and girls that are more into the stance/looks side of things, and they collect G-Shocks, or Nixons, or similar sorts of newer watches. Just seems to be an appreciation for…
