What do you use for key remapping? I've previously remapped my caps lock to backspace (as in Colemak layout) but it reverted when I upgraded to Win 8.1, just not got around to remapping it again.

I need to replace my creaking laptop so this has come up again for me recently in terms of advice, but I'm thinking that 15" MBP is the way to go, I'm not sure I can get more portable than that since the bulk of my paid work is 3D real time/gaming development. I really don't think an Air or even 13" retina MBP is

I used to be a hoarder, but pretty minimalist now. I don't keep the boxes to anything. I don't keep manuals either (on occasions, becoming rarer, they come with printed manuals). I pretty much throw away boxes straight away once I know something is working (tends to be within a couple of days). Any old stuff I sell I

Agreed, my biggest weakness is helping others out. It's now to the complete detriment of my own finances.

So your wife is your biggest commuting obstacle. ;)

I've got to say I've never had anything but good customer service from Microsoft, on the occasions I've had to use it. They're actually pretty high on my list of tech/IT/computer company customer service just from personal experience.

5 Steps? Ouch, I'm 2 steps away from my office chair.

More platforms although OneNote has caught up a lot, but biggest thing by far is the API. I can do so much automatically through the likes of IFTTT. I'm not sure how easy that is through SkyDrive and how that affects OneNote, but I've not heard too much about anyone talk about that.

I didn't realise contracts could be so expensive. Mine is currently a 100 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data plan for:

I'll just be happy when they make Google Voice available for me. :/

Well that's not the case in the UK. International texts are not included.

I have unlimited texts too but I mostly use the other "free" messaging apps for my friends in different countries since those text messages would cost me.

About once a year I give iTunes a go in windows but end up uninstalling it completely within a day. Every single time I've tried it I've found it quite buggy and frequently crashes. This is on every version of Windows I've used and different PCs/laptops (so it can't be specific to my machine or what I have installed)

Not read the article yet, I will do later, for now I've added it to Pocket. :)

I built a new PC a couple of months ago (£3500/$5500 worth of parts).

VOTE: Crashplan

I used to use Dogg Catcher but I've now switched to Pocket Casts. Dogg Catcher seemed a bit too hacked together, variable speed via another app, no syncing across devices (at least at the time).

Agreed. I actually already have DisplayFusion through Steam. In fact looking at my task manager the Steam Client is currently using 0% CPU and 6.6MB memory. That's actually far less than Dropbox in my tray for a comparison.

I wonder how true this is as I came across something the other day here http://www.insectstings.co.uk/sting-acid-or-…

I can't find any evidence one way or the other which has me thinking this may be just one of those myths that's put forward as "common (sense) knowledge science", at least for the moment.

I pay for the Lastpass Premium sync but since that's only $12 for a year I don't really see it as much difference from being free, for something I use daily, so "cost" I don't see as being a major factor for me in choosing between them especially now it's no longer free for Dashlane. I find Lastpass quite easy to use
