While this may not boost confidence in the bumpy production of this movie, Giacchino is a tremendous addition. His scores are some of my favorites in recent years.

I think people want the show to focus on the captain, though. The ships operate through the captain. The captain is the hub of everything going on. Focusing on someone else really limits the perspective we get.

It’s great, because they don’t just fail as Star Wars movies, but much like Batman v Superman, as movies plain and simple. The defenders seem to think only Star Wars fanboys hate them now, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. People who enjoy movies and think about them critically hate them. They fail on so…

Dude. That was exactly Shatner point. Despite all attempts to resurrect STAR TREK it was Star Wars success which allowed it to be reborn.

Really don’t agree with Shatner’s opinion on Nimoy in the reboot. I think that he was used just the right amount. Any more than that, he would overshadow the rest of the cast and be a distraction.

It was probably the DC execs. They clearly so badly wanted to make their own Guardians of the Galaxy.

I hate to say it, but I’m not a fan of the new design either. It screams utilitarian and not beautiful that the prime universe ships have always been.

According to the Star Fleet Technical Manual and the Star Trek Blueprints from 1975, you’re right. The blueprints created for the show’s starship designs refer to the Naval Construction Contract, and these were approved by Gene Roddenberry.

I want to like this so much. But it lacks the gracefulness of almost every other Starfleet ship (save maybe the Olympic or similar Daedalus class of ships) where they look sleek and/or majestic. I hope they tweak it a bit so it doesn’t look so awkward in its drive section.
