This I absolutely agree with. There is definitely a societal perception that black children aren’t children beyond he diaper stage. It can be seen in a lot of the comments here. These would be the same people who were calling Locate “immature.”

Still, teens don’t have good judgment. They can reason at a higher level than a five-year-old, but there are very real physiological reasons why teenagers may reason well and still make terrible choices. Reason and judgement are different animals when it comes to physiology and brain development.

Depends on if he’s black or not. I say this bitterly. Black children are perceived to be bigger and older than they really are, both by police and by the white public. Therefore a black child with a BB gun is more likely to be considered a danger, and is more likely to be shot.

To be fair, we don’t know that he actually did pull that b.b. gun. Let’s wait for the body camera footage if it exists (and I’m sure if it does, they’re making sure that it won’t in the future. Body cameras fall off doncha know.)

“Brandishing”? Wow, you all have some good imaginations.

I agree with this in general. We are allowing the police to shift the risk onto the public while giving them kudos for “putting their lives on the line.”

Why is everyone saying he pulled it on the cops? All it says is that he pulled it out of his waistband. Sounds like he didn’t even have time to point it or even drop it, so unless someone can point me to a more detailed report, no one knows what he was about to do with it.

I think we set the bar too low for what constitutes an action requiring lethal force. Even if this young man pulled the fake weapon on police, I would prefer officers risk their own safety in an effort to confirm the weapon in question is real before opening fire. That’s literally the entire reason the police force

So now we are ranking child victim on their age? Oh he was only going to be a child for 5 more years so....

Whether he is 5 or 13 doesn’t matter. He was still a child.

It matters if the police are lying about the child pulling out the bb gun.

The Jefferson economy runs on Marijuana and craft beer, as far as I can tell.

This rhetoric is serious guys. I mean, REALLY serious. My parents are immigrants who have seen this kind of election play out — and it can easily lead to bloodshed. They are already armed to the teeth and foaming at the mouth.

Hey, hey, hey! Can you throw Alaska in there (whole thing, not just the little SE chunk)? I was born in one of those states, have relatives in another, and have lived in the Frozen North for half a lifetime.

That’s fair, because if Trump wins I’m praying for a Cascadia secession

Has any one of these yokels ever read the Constitution? Shouldn't that be required to hold office? The person who gets the most electoral votes becomes the President. Being duly elected does not make the President a dictator. Stop running around screaming about tyranny and shooting people, you sound like John Wilkes

Why? Kody was not raised in polygamy. Neither was his second wife, Janelle.

He’s a creep, all right. I watched the first two seasons of the show and was mystified by what all these women saw in him. Especially when the wives would cry and talk about how jealous they were of one another, and you could tell he was totally getting off on it. Jerk.

I can’t believe THAT guy got FOUR women to fall in love with, and want to spend their lives with him. He looks like he's literally pained when he thinks.

Kody is THE WORST! I really hate him.
