Interesting; this is the first negative review of this I’ve seen. It wasn’t even on my radar until the fairly universal positive reviews I’d read.

A Hugh Hefner biopic, directed by Brett Ratner, starring Jared Leto? Add a script by Akiva Goldsman and you’ve managed to make a movie that goes down in history as the least appealing movie pitch ever.

I’m 54 year old. Tom Petty and his music have been a constant in my life since I’m 13. I’ve worn out his records and seen him perform more times than I can count. He never quit. He has a new album and just finished a tour — he never became a “play the greatest hits at the county fair” guy.

It doesn’t matter what his motivation was, it was an act of terror because he shot over 500 people and killed more than a tenth of those. There is no cause other than terror; he was prepared, these people were strangers to him and he did not see their faces.

I was about to say something about gun control in America...but then I remembered Sandy Hook and realized if that didn’t change anything, I doubt this will. I really hope I’m wrong about that.
