No, it is quite easy for foreigners to naturalize in Japan. Live in Japan 5 years, have no criminal record, take a name that can be written in Japanese, be able to speak/read Japanese at the same level of an elementary schooler. It’s not difficult at all, and I personally know many who have done it.

It’s Georgia.

What the heck is OSS??

Don’t forget we had little idea of what was the conspiracy behind 9/11 on 9/11, either. Hijacked planes crashed into buildings, that’s what we knew.

Funny, I don’t find it too big at all, and I’ve had mine since January.

And this is true.

I went to public school in Texas as well, and while we did not learn creationism my biology teacher refused to so much as mention the chapter on evolution. Like she just went from chapter 4 to 6 while conveniently forgetting to mention chapter 5 was a thing.

Yes please. This sort of crap is enabled by weak managers and weaker corporate policies. Don’t let entitled assholes get away with this nonsense and most of it will stop.

I’ve been fortunate to never have anybody I’m dining with act more than slightly irresponsibly towards a server (and that is super rare). I’d like to think I keep better company than that and that if someone I was with did act in such a horrible way i would tell them off/leave/apologize to the server, but man, that’s

Certainly had plenty of mass systemic slavery in 1442, too.

The best thing about now is you can play all those games from that time, much easier than you could back then. Plus, you get all the benefits of living now. Win/Win.

More like your ass gets fired for mentioning the word “union” in the office. It’s sure that way in Texas. Just means the employer can get rid of you for any reason, at any time.

I’m not going to budge because I’m right on this. I hear the industry chatter all the time. The majors are spending nothing right now - nothing - so what do you think that means for the smaller guys? People were reluctant to spend when the price was pushing $100, this price drop took everyone by surprise and it’s

Depends on where that extraction is taking place. Some of the new fields planned/in the works when prices are high dwarf refinery costs/logistics. Obviously not the case with the Bakken but it sure is with some of the offshore projects.

It’s because oil got so high for so long, and seemed like it would stay high for a while, that’s how tar sands became profitable. But that price per barrel is a good 2x where we are now, maybe more.

Man, I think you have a bit of a blinkered understanding about how long the lead times and development cycles are for oilfields. You just don’t shut down a business and have someone pick it up again. It’s not a store. It takes years of development and logistics and permiting and leasing, and all that is predicated on

No, they’ll be out of business, workers laid off, assets sold.

Oh no, OPEC is playing the very long game. They’re out to shut down all those small producers in North Dakota completely. And they will if they keep this up long enough.

My guess is that it’s seismic survey related equipment that has been lost from an exploration vessel. The in-sea equipment would be torpedo-shaped like that (as it’s towed behind a vessel and needs to be streamlined). It could be the interior section of something like a navigation bird, which contains sensors,
