We have these. It’s China! You can get them on Ebay. Fantastic.

That said, you’ll need to make sure your replacement ‘dumbed-down’ plug in lies correctly to the computer so your headlight out and DRL voltage and blinker-check functions don’t throw errors all over the dash.

It makes a lot more sense from a legal / constitutional / property rights standpoint to have this an opt-in feature. Many people will opt-in, given reasonable limitations and repayment for damages promises, and then you avoid the colossal freak-out storm of ‘I don’t actually own my own property!’ arguments.

Obviously, if you got a ticket, someone else was around.

Officers have discretion in ALL cases except for violation of a restraining order. At least, that’s true in the places I’ve studied the legal code*. They could have chosen to ignore, or let him off with a warning. That said, they tend to lean towards, ‘Yeah I’m gonna enforce this here law’.

*I am not a lawyer.

They don’t follow up.

Yeah, these would work as well. I’ve often dreamed of just having a rally car, like a Golf or Jetta Sportwagen, but with jacked up rally style suspension so I can drive it fast AND over bumpy roads. Then I found out rally suspension is super expensive.

Major metro in the Pacific Northwest. We have coastal access, campgrounds with funky roads, lakes with limited access but gorgeous views of the mountain (and swimming), mountain prairie hiking, and summit access trails. All within a 2 hr drive or so.

Yeah, but you have 3 kids. Stef didn’t say, ‘Big cars are bad’. She said not every single person living in a studio needs a crossover to get a dresser home from Ikea once every 3 years.

They do show it like they were racing. They say it was a ‘Legends’ class race, and they say it was 8 laps, short circuit. Then they tell us Chris Harris got 4th. Was this actually a race? Was it a warm-up race? Or is the whole thing for show on their end?

Don’t have ground clearance to go up a rutted road to a trailhead. Many folks in the PNW actually attempt to access places via dirt road.

For those who live near a mountain and like hiking and camping, and don’t want BOTH a car and a truck, a crossover makes sense. There are hiking trailheads I’ve nearly high centered my Ford Explorer on. A Mazda 6 is not getting up there. I have used my MDX (replaced the explorer) AWD to crawl out of some icy muddy

It’s way way better than TGT. I watched TGT but was disappointed. I’m loving the new Top Gear.

I like it a lot. I like it a lot better than TGT. The reason I watch these shows is for cars. This season of Top Gear has a lot of focus on cars; driving them, talking about them, even doing stuff while driving them. It’s a relief from the alternative show, which didn’t really have that much car in in it.

I drove a Kia Sedona from Portland to Banff, BC. I was very surprised at the reasonable level of power and how well it seemed to handle.

I have fruit trees, but they’re in the backyard. Anything that hangs over the fence is 100% fair game. In fact, if you knock and ask, you can go around back and help yourself to some! I NEVER pick it all and use it all, so I end up needing to call people to harvest it or it will just rot.

Plums, Apples, Asian Pears,

There’s what I do, and what I recommend. I commute on a ZX6R. I rode all winter as long as it was dry. I was out in 30f. My gear is my perforated leather jacket and pants. BUT! When it gets cold, I wear a Patagonia nanopuff under my leather jacket, a Smartwool neck gaiter around my neck (of all places), and nitrile

When I first clicked on this article, I was curious as to why Bugatti was paying any money for a McLaren hypercar. I now see that the problem is English.

Yeah, this is a thing you CAN do. It’s not a thing I have ever done. I always upshift to put my car in lower RPMs. Less fuel used and lower stress.

If it’s a section that’s policed strictly, I just watch my speed.

The assertion that kids don’t learn about non-planets seems false. I just met a kid maybe in 3rd grade? I was quizzing them on the solar system, and he knew that Pluto is a dwarf planet, along with Sedna, Eros, Makemake, and knew that a planet clears its orbit.
