I’m thrilled they’re making the Red Rackham sequel, I never thought it would happen.

but... it’s literally set in underground cavemines and space stations with no supplies, and tiny trapped spaceships. I mean, I love the show, but not claustrophobic *at all*?
Hey, we’re still number one in academics, oh wait, I meant health care, er, no sorry, employment? Nope hang on, gun violence? safety? work life balance? housing? air quality? Lemme get back-
It is interesting to consider that possibility, e.g. that Russia or China would have actually fired an advanced weapon toward a carrier group, or whatever the F/A 18's were patrolling.
OK, now you’ve forced me to imagine an aggrieved Marty Funkhauser scowling at a Larry David flight attendant as a tuba plays, which was very bad of you.
I avoid United in the way I avoid Spirit Airlines or Greyhound. But probably everyone has their own risk/reward calculus.
Now that the subtext of townies vs students is clearer to me that’s a less knee jerk sounding point than “colleges admit liars and polling places staff with elderly people and so college ID’s-hurr-hurr” which is what “Edna” as an inherently incompetent entity fooled by the implied deluge of fraudulent student ID’s…
If, by moving goalposts, you mean shifting the question from the validity of college ID’s to actual drivers’ licenses as you shake that RealID tree, sure, I’ll accept you’ve moved them.
yea, I’m not buying the whole “there’s a whole universe of difference between an accredited college, which everyone knows is as leaky-as-hell unsound and the ironclad professionalism of every DMV in America” rationale.
Psst- don’t tell, but I knew a guy in high school who had, like, a fake driver’s license and could buy beer and stuff.
Yes, notice how everyone wants to avoid saying why, exactly, College IDs should be “meaningless” but a driver’s license handed out in your DMV isn’t.
Also, fun fact, Jessica Jones tends to wear infinity scarves, which is how I know what an infinity scarf is.
I’m curious why everyone says it “seems unlikely” to have been sterilized. Is there some sort of strangeometer pointed at Elon Musk’s Tesla that’s given us that likelihood? I have no idea, but if SpaceX is competing with NASA’s SLS I presume it might have similar protocols if it’s been certified to launch.
Won’t even try. It is absolutely the best Trek ever got.
Good lord it is Groot. Of course, the whole debate ignores the monism of Groot’s own claim that Star Lord, Gamora, Drax and Rocket Raccoon are also Groot, but that aside, Baby Groot is Groot- as surely as a clone of me is me, or me with amnesia is me, or cancer that has been eradicated but comes back is cancer.
Completely agree with all of above. I do like how the Excelsior is like the B-52 of Starfleet, expected to be in service for a century.
It really was ST:IV where we first saw A, after Kirk et. al. are fished out of 23rd Century San Fransisco harbor, demoted and reassigned..
That’s interesting that the Romani people are from Northern India. I have always wondered if Romani people were descended from the Hunnic people that arrived in Europe in the 5th century and then dispersed after the death of Attila. My understanding is that they spoke a variety of central asian languages as multiple…
Have scientists considered links to galactic mycelial structures and/or exposure to xeno-tardigrade populations as contributing factors?
My theory of the Star Wars Universe is that it takes place within dark matter, and that space is not experienced by people as a vacuum but is more akin to some aether-like substance that enables sound effects to be heard and “the force” (dark energy) to exist. This aether also meant that aeronautic engineers with a…
