Not to distract from the topic but wow this collection of quotes really illustrates Trump’s cognitive decline. Even when he’s talking about the same thing. Consider:

You get to be a good guy if you’re rich, white, conservative, straight man. You also get the benefit of the doubt and a second/third/fourth/etc. chance, if you meet all these requirements.

Men are also socialized to believe that if they want sex, it doesn’t matter if the woman wants it or not.

And men know this already. But if they play dumb, they might get laid anyway. If they acknowledge that they know she doesn’t want to have sex, they won’t.

Obviously that second part is muuuuuch easier said than done, but it seems like there’s no amount of shoe gazing and thinkpiece-ing that is going to get around the fact that someone needs to say that a thing that is not generally considered to be explicitly bad, should be considered explicitly bad, and that that thing…

When I read that quote, I headed over to rotten tomatoes to see what I could see. And what do you know, the female critics don’t like it either:

Ronan Farrow ain’t nothing to fuck with

It’s a reverse Kangaroo court where they’ve decided Kavanaugh is innocent and Ford is the one on trial. Meanwhile Farrow has another woman accusing Kavanaugh. Because of course there were other women!

We always think the literal millions of responses would make a substantive difference. And it would, if the white male kyriarchal desperation to grab all the societal power and not let go of it weren’t downright pathological. These are not people behaving in a normal manner. It’s just been normalized.

I was recently thinking the same thing.  That we’re suffering through the period of bringing all this pain to the surface.  Hopefully in the process of purging it.   I hope we’re right.
