I +1’d but also wanted to saying thank for speaking up. I, too, noticed fairly quickly the the topic was very similar to the Cracked article, so I scrolled and saw the proprietary gifs posted and...was disappointed. I was going to post but I it was bittersweet to see you already got to it and many others chimed in.

I liked Mweyer as a commenter and the opportunity was warranted, so I’m not sure what their thinking was with this plagiarism (amongst others articles, I guess) for this guest gig. Looks like it was dealt with relatively quickly but now I feel like io9’ers (Gawker employees but mostly commenters/visitors) will now

My career revolves around violence against women. When I first read about his suit over Sophia’s eggs, I felt he was an abuser. I don't know if he hit or, and would not make that assumption, but he has control issues. This is about control, pure and simple. And after his NYTs piece, where people thought he was

Next he is going to accuse her of trying to make him sign it while he was watching Seven Years in Tibet in his underwear.

I never knew that Mets front office personnel got to sit in the expensive seats.

Nick Loeb wins Douche of the Year Award. He is engaging in total harassment here, harassment that conveniently began seconds after his ex got engaged to a dude way hotter than him.

ok yeah all of that definitely makes a difference. thank you for the cliffsnotes version of why this guy is an abusive doucherocket who doesn’t deserve sympathy!

Was the “Jack Burton is the protagonist, but Wang is the hero [TWSS!]” setup in Big Trouble... really not that obvious? Earnest question, not one of those “Look at me! I’m so smart because I realized it right away even though its obvious DURRRR!” questions. I know the sendup that the main character wasn’t the hero was

My sister has an ex just like that too. They do anything they can to keep themselves relevant and problematic. I can’t believe people here are falling for it. Now he’s an “abuse survivor.”

Its pretty insane that the movie got made, especially with the actors who are in it. Anybody else playing those parts and it just doesn’t work, I think. But luckily it did get made because its a ridiculously batshit fun ride.

As someone who went through this kind of bullshit myself, I concur.

I agree that male domestic violence victims don’t get the support they deserve, but Nick Loeb doesn’t deserve your sympathy. If you look at their past, he’s the abusive/controlling one and these accusations, as well as the lawsuit, are just ways to intrude in her life and prevent her from moving on.

BINGO.

Yeah, people upthread are complaining about people doubting a guy claiming abuse, but... one look at just about anything written about him during the time they were together paints him as an emotionally abusive leech who spent the bulk of his time either insulting Sofia or embarrassing her with attempts to cash in on

He was a controlling boyfriend before, and he’s a controlling ex now. He doesn’t want to stop having a big role in her life, so he’s creating problems to ruin her happiness and keep himself at the center of her life like he did before because he can’t have her anymore. This is the real abuse here. Mental and emotional

It’s one of those things that should really be a thing, but sadly is not.

Bingo.

That’s why I asked. Thanks for being pleasant about it.

Wow, Nick Loeb himself is the one following the textbook abuser’s guide to a breakup.

I don’t understand, is Nick Loeb incapable of making babies with a woman who he is actually in a relationship with? Is he arguing that thawing the embryos would be equivalent to baby murder? Or all of this plus does he feel slighted in this relationship and feel the need to control his exgirlfriend and continue be a
