To be fair, bigots tend not to be the brightest people, otherwise they wouldn’t be bigots. Heavy handed is often the only way to communicate with such people at all - they don’t ‘get’ subtlety. I think it likely that the heavy handedness was deliberate rather than just bad writing - it was an effort to save lives.

I’m tired of excusing bad parenting when the easy answer is take the computer away. Set ground rules, if the child disobeys, follow up with consequences. No addictive advertising can survive a nonexistent computer. No computer means no playing, means responsible parenting.

You know what’s impossible to get around?

“Life’s pretty cheap to their kind, eh, Janet?”

The real question should be how we are allowing 11 people, nationwide, to control what can be read or seen. How did it happen that complaints can change what is allowed to be read almost instantly, while complaints about starving, not having access to medicine or shelter, or being beaten or killed are dismissed?

I LOVE the talking flowers. The flowers are fun, and in two-player couch coop, too! They are also helpful: if you actually listen to them, they hint at secrets, give pointers to succeed at tough spots, and warn of upcoming dangers - they are useful.

Justin was, apparently, not guilty of beating up his ex-wife, but that is not the real reason Adult Swim (and everyone else) dumped him.

Knowing - or suspecting - something about someone does not mean there is any proof. Without proof, kicking up a fuss making accusations inevitably just comes back and destroys the person doing it. So, all that is left is making ‘comedic remarks’ to express distain, ones that might get people thinking, but which won’t

I think Trump is deliberately trying to prejudice the jury - any jury, anywhere in the USA, likely anywhere on the planet that speaks English. This has utility - what, I wonder, is the legal recourse when it is determined that it is literally impossible for any form of unprejudiced jury to exist at all? What is done

I want it known that I said it first: Stop And Pee tests. Police stopping cars with women in them of childbearing age, and legally being able to force them to pee onto a pregnancy test. In full view of the officer.

Thank god there is an atheist faction.

So, linguistic analysis, which is fine - perfectly fine - if done by underpaid (or unpaid) interns entering data manually while being bored and miserable is somehow wrong if the process is automated?

Republicanism is fascism. Period. They are the steel-toed boot that stomps on a human face, forever. Oligarchs lording over us all.

1. The pandemic isn’t over, covid is still the 3rd leading cause of death and permanent disability in the US. It just isn’t financially convenient to deal with it anymore. Your life is simply not important to stockholder share value.

Republicanism must be stopped if the United States is to survive. Never elect a member of the GOP for any position, not ever, not for anything.

Abortion should be legal and available right up to the day of birth itself. Either a woman owns her own flesh, or she is a slave to her reproductive organs. Anything not yet born is not a person, and should never have any rights.

A shelf life VASTLY longer than ephemeral usage rights that can be instantly revoked at any time. I can still play my original NES game cartridges, today, but I can never again play the original (and far superior) Overwatch.

When a human is ‘inspired’ by the training set of observing Getty watermarked images, the human knows to erase the watermark in their memory of what they saw, and just use the image information to inform their own works, because nobody can create without input.

When a human ‘scrapes data’ by viewing and reading it all over the internet, and then uses that material as ‘inspiration’ for derivative works, that is fine... but when an AI does exactly the same thing, oh, that’s all wrong and terrible and bad for some reason.

Dolphins cannot be trained to attack humans - for whatever reason, they simply will not do so. However, they can be outfitted - as Russia does - with sharp needles and edges on their fins and nose that contain rapid acting poison. The dolphins can be conditioned to try to ‘play and roughhouse’ with human divers, and
