What do you mean “only 2" stand by him? Your citation lists 4 who literally say they stand by him and a couple more who imply it using other words. The vast majority simply weren’t interviewed.  If you’ve got a better source, then source it. Otherwise, you’re just making things up.

This is the failure of humans and especially Christians: using your faith to justify what your id and ego *want* you to do. We all want to maintain a self-image of being a good person, so when you give in to your baser instincts, you warp Christian teachings to match your self-image.
