If they could match mechanical manual operation, with the compactness of the EPB switch, then I would understand. They thing that scares me is the lack of redundancy in the even that your parking brake does engage while on the tollway; and frankly, i feel more comfortable with the loud clicks and the increased tension…

Some of the car magazines have already road-tested the 2014 Golf and GTI, and they agree that the EPB is a nuisance, which i took to mean that the American market cars will have the EPB.
