That last scene.
I’m getting Escaflowne vibes from the title.
The fact that you have to dig that hard to find good things (and most of them are just “things,” not even really all that good) more or less makes his point.
Beyond and The Second Renaissance I & II blew my mind when I saw it first, especially since Beyond was randomly shown on MTV one early evening. I missed the start, only seeing from when the girl was searching for her cat so I had no idea what it was. When I saw the connection I was dumbfounded.
One thing that got me really excited in this trailers is the return of weird doors / broken Matrix physics. When the Agent bashes through a door and the hallway he’s going into has a completely different orientation of gravity I loved it.
Poe’s album is so freaking good. I’m so sad she hasn’t released any music since then, really.
For anyone who has not read House of Leaves, allow my to try and give you sense of what it’s like to read this book.
I just bought it and I cannot *wait* to read it
It’s funny, in retrospect House of Leaves is kind of like an incredibly complex precursor to some of the more interesting Twine games out there. These days if it were adapted to film it would work best in the style of a deep dive YouTube video - kind of like Tim Rogers’ recent work!
I dunno if House of Leaves reminds me of a movie so much as a heavily-indexed website. I always suspected that the reason “house” was always in blue was because it was supposed to remind the readers of a hypertext link.
It’s not. Once you get past the experimental/metafictional bits it’s basically a page-turner that operates on the same principles as a typical horror novel.
If it doesn’t look and sound EXACTLY like this, I’m not interested.
Wow! What a mansion!!
Sigh. Another comment section soon to be laden with WoW disappointment and frustration. Boring….
There making it much too easy on the people who title porn parodies.

Again?
Apparently the only people who don’t know America’s secrets are the American people.
Especially a small ship like that one that’s not generally used for, you know, slavery. The name would make more sense on one of the ships used to gather up Wookiees and other enslaved species. I can see some dull captain christening a big cargo ship with that name, but not the owner of a small interceptor.
