It is only a matter of time before your kid dives into the world K-pop.

Interesting to not include Best Song Ever which features one of the boys dressed as Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder and Harry Styles crooning to Zayn Malik in drag or Sign Of The Times which is the definitive Harry Styles song. Even though it seems like it was released a lifetime ago Fine Line is quite a fantastic Read more

I think One Direction’s has gotten critical reappraisal is mostly due to how music criticism as a whole has evolved the past decade. When the band was at their peak, pop music (especially pop created primarily for teen girls) wasn’t really respected or taken seriously by critics, and outlets like Pitchfork were still Read more

I’m 50 and I know all the 1D, Horan, and Styles songs very well. My 11-year-old daughter asked an older girl who was wearing a One Direction t-shirt who they were last summer and has been obsessed since. They were a really talented band and this is a great list. I have grown to genuinely like 1D and basically adore Read more

I find it interesting that so many bands, no matter how large or small their following or how “cool” they are contemporarily, end up getting critically reappraised. I don’t know enough about music to assess that about One Direction, but I thought it was most striking about the nu-metal bands from the 90s - 00s. It Read more

Also Sour Flower being a 6 minute 48 second track and not wasting a single second of it impresses me to my core.

Can’t disagree with any of the picks (that I’ve listened to anyway). I would have found room for Damien Jurado’s ‘What’s New Tomboy?’ (my favourite of his to date), HAIM’s ‘Women In Music Pt. 3' (the first album of theirs that I’ve enjoyed from start to finish), and Hinds’ ‘The Prettiest Curse’ (maybe the most fun I Read more

Musical tastes differ widely with regards to “the best songs of 2020", but I firmly believe there are only two types of people on this earth: those who feel Lianne La Havas singing Bittersweet with the BBC orchestra is the best live performance of 2020 (I mean, it’s not like competition will be stiff this year

His screaming match with fake!Tomi whatshername was amazing. His character is truly the MVP of Search Party season 3, his self delusion has even greater potential than Dory’s. Can’t wait for s4

The Jessie and HAIM albums are both incredible, for different reasons of course. I was practically giddy playing them back to back this morning.

Yeeeees, Jessie Ware really delivered with this new album! <3 I must say, with all of the recent revival of house, disco, and funk in the pop music scene (which I love), Jessie’s so far is the one that sounds the most like it could’ve actually come out in the late 70s. The instrumentation, background vocals, chord Read more
