Well, and of course, all this is easier if you have always had money to begin with and/or your parents did and gave it to you, which is how you have healthy food available to you to begin with. So, rich, white, healthy people are happy and it’s all “We’ve got ours, nuts to you!” for everybody else.

So, basically back to “healthy people get ripped off paying for years and years for health insurance they never use, which makes the health insurance companies happy and the healthy people happy UNTIL THEY GET SICK and then they’re pissed off because SUDDENLY THEY’RE THE ‘OTHER’ PEOPLE WHO ARE SICK and now they want…

I think you could remove the word “Catholic” from this complaint and perhaps be more, or at least equally, accurate.

I refer to this as the “magic milk bottle” theory. Like, every time a man goes to the refrigerator, there’s always a bottle of milk in there with milk left in it. Because it’s magic, right? It just never runs out.

I once saw a news story — I think it was about the Boston city park employees cleaning graffiti off of statues — that quoted one of them as saying “Every act of housekeeping is an act of hope.” I thought that was pretty good and often think it to myself when I have to do repetitive, but necessary, tasks.
