This is Sephiroth, aka Sephy. He is my darling weirdo and he loves to be held, cuddled, and to interrupt when electronics are used.

Same here!

Awwwwww! Your kitty looks like my half grown charmer!

Re: not flushing urinals:

This guy isn't worth continuing the conversation with.

I see a lot of people blatantly ignoring the horrible aspects because they want to remain blind to the negatives.

I'm not necessarily speaking of Twitter, but more of places like here where there's a lot of active discussion and vehement support on both sides of the issue. That part is easy enough to follow with comment history, though the burner accounts can get ridiculous. I've seen a lot of very vocal support of misogyny on

That's one of the more frustrating issues for me. Instead of people coming together and confirming the assholes need to be stopped, you have people criticizing the section denouncing the harassment because "you're being too hostile".

Not gonna lie...this gif is nightmare fuel.

How is it that the people who support the movement aren't actively seeking the supporters of the stalking and harassment and calling them out? Saying we don't want you speaking for our group? I see a lot of "well that sucks, but we all have bad parts to groups and we're sticking to our guns here"

So in your mind it's just collateral damage? Well too bad for these women that are having their lives ruined because you support the greater movement?

No, my default is not to throw a tantrum. However, I am absolutely allowed to feel blindingly angry at the fact this situation is fucking bullshit and I don't need to comport myself to even pretend to give a fair turn to the assholes defending the behavior leading to women being stalked and threatened in their homes.

If they are aware of the origins and the misogyny behind it and they condone that behavior? Then yes, of course they are part of the problem. I'm not saying everyone in the movement is a piece of shit, but if it is presented that there is a very vocal part of the movement supporting harassment like this and they don't

Halp.

It has been more than just a couple of people spewing this diarrhea though. That's the trouble. If you identify with the movement, it behooves you to to make a point to impose and enforce a standard of decency within the movement and call out anyone who is being awful.

So make a point to denounce the behavior like this. I'm not part of the problem as a non-troll gamer, so I am not overly concerned. I am, however, concerned at the defense the movement gets for the "fringe" that does this.

See, that's the message women have been conditioned to respond in our society: be the better person, don't respond with anger. Be above reproach. It is interesting to me that we get castigated for not toeing that line when it gets us nothing but ignored or dismissed outright. I have a right to be pissed off at this

I certainly wouldn't label myself as such, but I'm a female gamer and lean feminist. Most of the people I game with are fantastic, but many men still hold anti-female opinions to varying degrees. I try to counter it whenever possible, but online in safe havens for the trolls? Forget it.

By publicly denouncing those who think it is okay to do this shit to anyone.

So why hasn't there been a larger movement denouncing the actions of the few? If someone was making my hobby / thing I felt passionate about look bad, I sure as hell would speak out against them!
