But this? This is fucking gross. Judge Five Months Is Plenty and his misplaced empathy is doing what so many men have done before - seeing himself in this defendant (and starkly not in others) and showing his ass. It’s a loud and clear “Prison is for Those People™, not Fine Young Men like this.”

The judge threw out a lawyer today for liking social media posts that took issue with this decision. This was on a totally unrelated court case too. What a joke.

Aside from all the other horrible things here, why isn’t it illegal for a judge to overturn their own convictions in order to bypass mandatory minimum sentences? Like, I disagree with mandatory minimums on principle, but this is simply not the way to fix them. Also, four years for rape in no way is too much…
