Love that “strategy” in the 3rd inning, when the 7th place hitter hits a double with 2 outs. They walk the 8th place hitter to get the free out. Inning over. What strategy!

“It’s on all of us to grow up and recognize these problems. Now let me get back to yelling about completely inconsequential bullshit that dumbs down public discourse and makes me a shitton of money OH HEY CHECK OUT FLOYD’S CARS HOW SWEET ARE THOSE WOOOOOOO!!”

Nice try, but in interleague games the games are longer in NL stadiums. AL games being two minutes longer on average over the course of the season has been shown to be due to playing style, not rule differences. And teams score on average 0.3 runs more per game in the AL than the NL. So you’re looking at an average

Well, you’ve got to live and learn, you’ve got to live and learn, before your bridges burn.

To be fair, Joe Public didn’t want to abuse those people, he was provoked.

Late innings chess match, IE games that take 4 hours. Dude, aside from long-ass games, nothing is more lame than seeing a pitcher come up in the middle of nice rally and watch him swing awkwardly at pitches and then watch strike three with the bat on his shoulder. It's lame and boring and really lame.

Stephen A. puts a lot of the blame on Joe Public here, but he ended up backing off that later when he found out about Joe Public’s domestic violence arrests.

Not really. What the NL game has is a few automatic outs and then a coach just empties his bench based on the handedness of the pitcher and does a double switch to minimize said positions’ at bats. That is not that difficult.

Now playing

Some of you will bristle at the opinions of Barkley and Shaq, but I think they have some perspective to offer on this matter. Guys in the league fight for rebounds and get twisted up in the NBA all the time. The only thing unusual about this situation is the result. The still photograph of the tie up looks bad, but

Batting as a pitcher when he wasn’t used to it basically ruined Chien Ming Wang’s career.

Three things to consider:

They were both going for the ball... it was a bad play for sure, but to say that it was intentional is just being a crybaby - Love has a history of whining.

It’s not that difficult to make substitutions, you are over emphasizing the actual strategy. Double switches, pitch hitting, and situational relievers are not rocket science.

He clearly intentionally grabbed Love, but you can’t make the leap that he intentionally separated his shoulder. If Olynyk can be definitively accused of anything it’s being an embarrassingly terrible rebounder for a 7-footer who has to resort to these sorts of stupid maneuvers. I recall Charles Smith doing the same

Not for nothing, but this was seconds before the injury. I’m not saying Olynyk’s play was good, but it backs up his claim that guys lock arms all the time in the NBA.

Yeah, he was intentionally holding onto his arm in an attempt to keep Love away from the ball. Which is clearly a foul. But saying he intentionally injured the guy is a different thing from saying he intentionally clutched onto his arm, which is something that happens all the time in basketball. Also, a still frame

Love had called it “bush league” and James claimed it “didn’t look like a basketball play.”

I don’t see how he tried to intentionally dislocate his shoulder. They’re both going for the ball and Love actually initiated the contact. It’s unfortunate and flukey but does not look intentional.

I understand being frustrated about suffering an injury, or having your teammate suffer an injury, but it absurd to suggest that Olynyk ripped the guy’s arm out of the socket on purpose. It sucks to get hurt, but it happens. Don’t be a child about it.
