Wow, that is just YIKES!!!!! WTF??????????????? I wish I could undo reading that last part. I'm sure you wish you could delete that message from your mind as well.

goddess, thank you for this. It's pervasive and disgusting what these young girls are learning about being women. I have several young girls in my family who are being educated by pop culture and music videos and what it has done to their self worth isn't pretty.

I have to admit, on first glance I clicked the article because I wanted to read some fluff on how hot this guy is. It kind of ruined my day to read what it was really about so I'm just going to focus on his arms and sigh.

For me it's the roundness of her face mixed with her eyes. She just looks luscious and healthy. She has a warm inner glow.

They definitely seem like a couple I'd like to hang out with. Marian's eyes are hilarious in all of these photos.

The good ole American planet where 7 year old girls feel pressure to diet. It's quite shameful.

Yes, I do this instinctively as well. I don't force my children to hug or kiss anyone. My son has just started this adorable thing before bedtime where he gives me a kiss or a hug but not both. He'll say, "Tonight you get a kiss Mommy but not a hug". It's so cute to see him exercising his freedom to choose.

This is just great!

Those girls are just perfect in every way. It's amazing what human beings can create. I was deeply moved.

Are any of the Afro-Caribbean works you studied in English? If so, please share. I’m always interested in expanding my perspective. Mr. McWhorter writes the most elegant and thoughtful essays and treats his subjects with humanity and compassion, even when enumerating their failings. Case in point, one of my favorite

This is an outstanding article by John McWhorter. Read it if you get a chance: Thus Spake Zora

Damn girl, preach!

This clip is everything I enjoy about smart comedy. There are just so many layers to that skit. Scary and Funny at the same time and then she just flips it in the end and ups the ante. It's pretty brilliant.

My son is 4 and an advanced reader/writer. He doesn't acknowledge punctuation and reads everything as a run-on sentence. It's very cute. His new hobby is typing (is that still the correct term?) text messages on my android. He types very simple messages but I'm sure he'll be writing prose by the time he's 8. I

I embarrassed at the amount of jealousy coursing through my veins at this very moment. She is super-duper gorgeous! I'm really excited that she's into programming.

LOL, we must be related. I requested and got new wine glasses for Christmas. Happiness ensued...

Well, they were like 15 & 16 back then. Who isn't a complete witch at 16? That's why most of us are so sympathetic and giving in our later years. We all remember where we've been & the shameful things that we've said about one another. "The Past" - It ain't always pretty!

This film brings back memories of me and my Mom watching it and crying together on the couch. I've seen both films and love them both equally. The funeral scene at the end always gets to me. I can't even get through the first line of Mahalia's song without a waterfall starting. All of the actresses were superb.

I just saw Anchorman 2 and there is a scene where the two female leads threaten one another with bodily harm over a man. So they actually do talk to one another. Of course it's about a man.

I'm always quite surprised at how sexy he is to me. There is just something about Harry.
