We’re doing Vietnam this October/November, followed by three days in Tokyo on the way home. It’s my first time leaving the US (Canada aside).

You can use this (good) advice. You can also not worry about comparing your experiences to anyone else’s. It’s not a contest about who can have the best vacation. Do the things you want and you’ll definitely have a good time.

Except when you’re descending Pike’s Peak (or other winding mountain passes) and your CVT would prefer you to mash the brakes, rather than use engine braking. Then they come in very handy.
