You are not a big dummy, BrentIsAngry - you just got to the show late. So did I (though, hey, not as late as you) and I’ve actually seen the whole run twice by now. Glad you saw the light - I know a few people who had to be dragged back to it because they thought season 1 was just okay (I never saw a problem with it).
Inappropriate, maybe/probably/context matters. Sexual harassment, no.
New Parliament! OMG you have given me reason to live another day! That is only a slight exaggeration! I had a dream last night that I was dancing to “Flashlight” at work and now this.
Hot take: The Watchmen 2009 movie is good and entertaining and one of the better comic book adaptations made in the past ten years.
God bless Milligan and Allred’s X-Force/X-Statix
I’d like to suggest “Sheer Heart Attack” by Queen (ie. the song - which is on News of the World - not the album) is a pretty great swing at punk by exactly the kind of band The Punks were rebelling against. It’s also pretty fucking great, but then, Queen generally was pretty fucking great.
Additionally, I posit that the digital effects on Juggernaut are distracting only because we KNOW people aren’t shaped like that. I thought he looked pretty good all things considered.
Del Toro’s work might average out to “B+”, but that doesn’t mean he has one or two “A” efforts in his C.V. “Pan’s Labyrinth”, for example, is an A+ piece of art. It’s the result of a visionary artist firing on all cylinders.
So are we excited about next season, or have we ridden Arrow off after a 3 not-very-good seasons in a row? (S5 being the exception)
Finally, somebody in these comments making fucking sense.
I’ll go one further. It is the best of all the Alien films. Its acting and characterization crush all of the other films and I love its unrelentingly dark tone.
The young actress who played Newt in “Aliens” is one of the worst child actors of all time and Hicks…
Ugh. That movie was fowl.
Jeri Hogarth has been lesbianing for all she is worth for two seasons now. She had a wife (now dead) in season 1, and lovers in both seasons, so a total of at least 4 lesbians/bisexuals on the show, plus JJ’s landlord is gay (season 2) and one of Hogarth’s law partners is gay (also season 2)
Uncanny X-Force was X-Book of the decade.
I love the moment when Logan gets told that Wade never cashed any of his checks, that in his own way Wade was legitimately in it for the right reasons, yet another attempt in his long line of attempts to be the hero reality will never allow him to be.
Remender’s Uncanny X-Force was such a slam dunk. It’s a shame that his Uncanny Avengers follow-up was mostly a drag.
This reminds me of how in Remender’s run of X-Force, Deadpool was a sort of moral center of the team who objected to Fantomex killing Kid Apocalypse the first time.
Great post, I mostly feel the same way. I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say that I LOVE it, but I like it a LOT more than its rep and think some parts of it are incredibly effective, particularly the score and the climax.
I say the producer’s cut is better in general, but I get distracted every time by the crummy…
I never understood the hate for this movie- it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I always liked it. The success of the Alien franchise is in its willingness to change- I used to have a different genre for every Alien and AVP movie, but I forget them right now; the first is clearly a classic horror movie while the…
