Yup, that “new” definition is a very dangerous thing and is being used to try to wage “guilt free” sexism, racism, or whatever. Thing is, it only perpetuates it. Saying “X group can’t be y-ist!” is enabling bad behavior and ensuring continued conflict.

As a dude, I would be mostly just interested to see how the panel went. If they’re talking about serious issues and problems in the industry, I don’t think it’s best to keep the discussion behind closed doors.

While I don’t agree with everyone’s behavior I do agree with the reasoning. You don’t bring equality by treating the ones who weren’t discriminated against the same way as the ones who were. That’s not equality, that is just revenge.
