    I didn’t do it.

    “Leash.”

I can’t understand why this thread isn’t at the top of this section.

I enjoyed the Tarkin effect but because he was on screen so much, I found myself spending too much time wondering if it was an actor with CG overlay or all CG or what... There was something about Tarkin that didn’t quite “hit,” with me... it was like they had taken an animation cel or something and given it new life.

Jesus christ. Is that The Mime?

This show is amazing. It had an incredible sense of pacing across an entire season, really good action scenes, and, honestly, hands-down the best interpretation of the heart of DC around. Certainly better than the movie-verse and maybe better than the comics.

Contained?!!? It’s fucking over. There’s no telling what sort of damage can be wrought in the four years, two if we’re absurdly optimistic that a third or new Democractic party can get its shit together, this ridiculous cynical government can wreak. And I guarantee you that 99% of the effort in DC between now and next

I live in a small city in Wisconsin and it’s encouraging and invigorating to be in a battleground where you feel your vote is actually doing something. This was the first time since we moved here in 2008 that I had to wait longer than, say, 15 minutes to get through the voting line. It ended up being a total of 50

What is even happening in this thread?

I mean... I hate to even say it, but this looks so much better than the Snyder films. It makes me think this could be good.

You raise a really good point: why put hosts into cold storage at all? If there’s software or programming driving behavior that can be reprogrammed or upgraded, why would they eliminate what must surely be millions of dollars in hardware just because of a glitch? There must be some line that can’t be crossed in terms

Your bigger question has been my chief struggle with this show. I can’t wrap my head around how this happens, logistically. There’s only three ways I can see it could without, as you say, interrupting the in-park experience:

The only way HBO could have more boobs is if they piloted a show called Boobs that was about sentient boobs who were creating robot boobs but kept getting distracted by boobs they didn’t expect.

So one idea here is that you’re assuming that the technology is all on the outside, but if the point of the park is for the hosts to appear real, they would have achieved that from the get-go. I’m trying to remember if we’ve seen the “insides” of a host in the Billy/Logan storyline and can’t... But it’s entirely

    Excellent.

Right. I said somewhere else that I think this show could be really novel or really rehashed. There’s so much material out there that I think there’s a danger of revisiting a lot of tired themes.

#4: my very first thought was that the MIB was a host in the first place. This seems contradicted in the interview KT references but not necessarily. I maintain that it’s a possibility. But unlikely.

This. And I also would note that it’s my impression that Dolore lied when asked if her father whispered anything else to her. If he did, then that was undoubtedly a command line as well, and it will be interesting to find out how many people or organizations are trying to corrupt the program this way. Or, for hat

Oh, I absolutely agree... I think there seems like ample potential here to explore new or retread old ground in terms of “what does it mean to be human?” ... it depends on what they do with it, I guess. Even if the show is just an extended riff on bicentennial man, though, I’d probably stay with it. I thought the set

It’s definitely unlikely. My head just went to the most horrifying possibility first. Being able to 3D print a humanoid person isn’t too far from being able to overwrite an existing personality. Or maybe mixing this up with Dollhouse?
