I don’t know if I’m in a minority, but I feel like Ghostbusters 2 is pretty unfairly maligned. I saw it in the theaters when I was 4, liked it, but then heard for 20+ years how it was horrible, and just assumed that was the case.

You are taking it too literally, when people say that something “ruined their childhood.” they mean that the memory of something they valued as children is now tainted by the that something, and memories are not static, they are quite dynamic.

Why Paul Feig Dared to Make the New Ghostbusters Movie

Christ this shit is stupid. So glad I cancelled all my subscriptions. Marvel (and DC) needs to give up on crossover “events” and building (or blowing up) continuity and just focus on individual titles with good stories and interesting characters.

Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is a film for anyone who ever watched the first Ghostbusters and thought, “I wish they got to use their guns more.”

Which begs the question - why go to him? The guy wasn’t on board with the version they wanted to make. So why not offer it to someone else ready to take on the challenge of making a continuation instead of starting over from 0?

Wait, they retitled it? Huh. I didn’t know that. This is weird. It’s like there is someone in the Sony marketing dept who really wants this to be seen as sequel and not a reboot - first the trailer that said “30 years ago, four people saved New York” and now this. Bizarre.

I’ve been thinking and saying almost the exact same thing. I think there’d be a lot less resistance to this new movie if it was Ghostbusters 3, a ‘passing of the torch’ movie, not unlike ep 7. No one wants to see a Ghostbusters ‘reboot’. That’s story has already been done - PERFECTLY. Everybody, everywhere already…

If you’re going to remake a beloved movie, you better do it well. And NOTHING they’ve done has led us to believe they did it well.

But still a level not necessary on Gizmodo. Keep that shit on Gawker. Hopefully Ziff will help.
