The problem with EV charging is you have almost no idea how long it will take. Whereas with a gas station, your max filling time is probably 10 min. per car. But really closer to 5 min per car. If we were even at 20% new cars as EV sales, public charging would be an absolute nightmare.

IMO it does not make sense to buy an EV if you are planning to rely on a charging network for anything outside of the occasional longer trip. If it is your commuter car, you’d better have a 40Amp+ charger in your garage or dedicated parking space. Anything else and you’re better off with a PHEV, HEV, or just regular…

Hyundai dealers gonna do what Hyundai dealers do. $68k is a lot of money for a Hyundai. $88k is Porsche money. For either amount, you can buy a used, very low mileage Porsche Taycan 4S of varying years that has taken the brunt of depreciation already.

You can blame celebrity (and non-celebrity) vanity, but you can’t get these drugs without a prescription. It isn’t completely black and white, but the physicians prescribing them to people who do not really need them deserve a lot of the blame as well.

There’s an entirely different reason, a technological one, that you missed. Connecting to a cell tower requires a connection handshake to be sent from your phone to the tower and back. If the signal is weak, it’s boosted, which takes power. Each connection handshake also adds overhead to the tower.

You know why you do it? Because we have social norms. And social norms that encourage kindness and decency seem to be few and far between these days. “Please put your phone in airplane mode” is so innocuous, that it literally should offend nobody. It costs you nothing to simply be decent and not yap away on your phone…

Having no signal is actually a good reason to use airplane mode, because otherwise your phone will be using its transmitter at full power trying to find a signal. It’s effectively screaming “Is anyone there? Is anyone there?” and will drain your battery much faster. And if it does find a signal, it will be 6+ miles…

The reason to turn on Airplane Mode is because your phone will continuously search for a signal while in the air and drain your battery. 

Dealerships don’t generally do repair work on components. They replace whole components.  It’s why they’re an entry level mechanic job.

Then you run into the issue of finding an indy shop who will touch an EV. Sure there are a few, and there will be more. But probably not for a long time.
