yeah, not getting some of the “lol, mad, just buy a VR set and quit whining” attitude in the comments here.

appreciate the affordable vampire hunter stakes shiatsu sticks though:

good grief, you didn’t even read what i said, at least beyond what you wanted to complain or argue about (not even paying attention to the point at the end). i usually take much longer to reach that point, but maybe hester bangs had the right approach, in the end.

speaking generally, and not about your personal case: i would believe that it’s impossible/bad/awful not to sprawl out if there weren’t men who sleep on their side, legs shut, snoring away. a little space is okay; the kind that people complain about is neither considerate nor necessary in most cases.

oof, you definitely know if you’ve got an ear infection or not (and as a previously-chronic sufferer of those, i feel bad for anyone who gets stuck with them).

some people were under the impression that Nelson was a black teenager (doesn’t appear to be true), or that these authors opposed the selection of Just Mercy (doesn't appear to be true either).

good for you. she’s not obligated to respond to public comments privately.

Nelson is not owed a public apology, unless she’s also willing to issue one for her own words and actions. all fair game here; she said shit, got shit back, the end.

oh, fuck off.

it wasn’t tepid praise; it was a vendetta to keep the books out of the program just because they weren’t up to Nelson’s taste and were substandard because they’re just “fine for teenage girls” (again, fuck her). people trying to restrict books from programs or classes rarely have a good reason for doing so, and this

no. Nelson is 100% responsible for her words, as is Dessen, and if you acknowledge that Dessen's human and able to be affected by things (especially someone being this much of a turd about her books) then there's really nothing else to say.

well, at least you admit it.

but we must protect the poor little one from the big bad authors (that she came for very publicly and wholeheartedly) 🥺🥺

she’s not a student, and no one really owes her anything here. it's just basic reaping what you sow 🤷

that's not even really what happened but, okay.

several of your comments have been just as defensive, and an argument isn’t bad just because you don’t agree with it. get over yourself.

i don’t disagree, but i believe this also applies to Nelson, unlike others here who believe she deserves total immunity to be an asshole just because she’s not older, richer, famous, or some other stupid bullshit.

plenty of people have already explained how she might have gotten wind of that criticism, so, next.

she saw something she felt hurt by, called it out, and friends supported her. that’s it. she’s not immune to that just because she’s an established author, and tons of people here would have no problem with someone else doing the same thing, which is what makes this all so ridiculous.

i doubt that there’s absolutely nothing that could be mind-expanding in Sarah Dessen’s work, but the assumption that there’s nothing in it or that it’s “beneath” college students is partly what some of the complaints here are about.
