Oh I totally agree. There are people out there (like my dad) who are obsessed with “getting a good deal” more so than “getting a good car.”

People tend to forget this. You have to evaluate the vehicle in terms of what else is available in the segment around the same price point. Sure, it may not be a downright terrible CUV (although these comments suggest otherwise), but compared to all of the CUVs on the market, there’s no real reason to buy one (unless…
No DB Cooper? :( SAD TIMES.
I’m converting all doors in my life to rear-hinged doors. WELCOME ME, VARIOUS SPACES IN MY LIFE! WELCOME ME!
Check it. I don’t think width will be an issue as much as height, but even then, I think you could manage a regular, modern parking garage.
DB Cooper (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._B._Coo…). Hijacked a 727 back in 1971, extorted $200k and then parachuted to an unknown fate (spoiler alert: he probably died). It’s the only unsolved US air piracy case.
This. A thousand times this. They ought to offer two trim lines: functional and formal.
I get your point, but if this tech helps prevent some dude with a big honkin’ trailer from smashing up into me, I’m cool with it.
I have an 03 Ranger. It was cheap. It is cheap to run. I don’t need to tow anything. I just need something to haul firewood, mulch, hay, camping gear, etc. Also, since it’s not super huge, the Ranger works out great as a DD.
Damn you for bringing me back to reality! You’re spot on!
Absolutely! Not too long ago, the “Walkie-Talkie” skyscraper in London was blamed for melting parts of a Jaguar parked nearby.
Fine. Let’s make all cars look the way you want them to. Better?
Agreed. My experience with most car dealerships is that the sales staff: (a) generally doesn’t care what they are selling and (b) generally doesn’t know what they are selling.
So where did you get this $1200 figure for a timing belt job?
$1200? I’m taking it you had the dealer do your work?
Oh I like the Juke (or at least, I like 75% of the Juke). You make a good point - it really doesn’t have problematic proportions. People (such as myself) just take issue with the “features” of the front end.
From the rear and side, it looks fantastic. That front end though ...
Except that VAG’s FSI engine burns oil like a mofo and if you talk to the dealer, they tell you that it’s “normal operation.”
A local VW dealer gave me free labor when I had a bad catalytic converter and water pump. They knew I was on the market for a new car (I test drove a GTI the week prior), so I assume that had something to do with it. Sadly, their gesture didn’t make up for all of the other terrible experiences I’ve had at VW dealers.
