In the Anthem article it didn’t feel like the standard narrative of “EA ruins everything it touches because of greed” really fitted. It sounded like Bioware messed that one up all by themselves.

I’m convinced easy mode does ruin some types of games for a lot of people, particularly I’m thinking of immersive sims. Or any game where you have a choice between combat, and non-combat techniques such as stealth, hacking, etc.

This reminds me somewhat of the photographs of Amanda Knox smiling that were spread around the world and used to insinuate that she must be guilty. You shouldn’t assume you know everything about a person just because you saw a still frame photograph of them smiling.
