GM lied about a fault that existed in 28 million cars that led to 124 deaths and received a $900,000,000 fine. VW lies about an emissions test on 500,000 cars which killed nobody and is threatened with a $16,000,000,000 dollar fine?

Does that make sense?

I’d love to see what people can say about this. The usual argument on Tav’s articles is always about maintenance/cost of ownership, but what can you say about this Lexus? 128,000 miles is practically nothing for these indestructible cars. And this is by the same company that built Matt Farah’s million mile Lexus. Sure

The single biggest national security threat facing America right now is the threat of a nuclear Iran.

Nice (typical) hater-type comment here

Thats a dumbass reason to put an antique on the ocean.

You’ve misunderstood the column because you didn’t read far enough.

That’s the point. They didn’t announce that Jetta Sportwagen sales were down. They just announced that “Golf family” sales were up. Er, sales weren’t up. You just moved the old Jetta into the Golf family. Overall, sales are down. It’s just trickery designed to fool the stupid.

Why do VW North America do so badly? Europe, South Africa (Actually sub-Saharan Africa), the Middle-East, South America and a chunk of China all love VW. Yet you lot... I dunno. I know it’s a brand that Hitler gave the world but the cars in 2015 are well equipped, look ok, well built and not as expensive as their

Sorry Stranger, read your post very quickly, and I’m so use to getting lit for going against Gospel of Doug I thought you where giving me flack for my retort. But yes I agreed, it takes 2 seconds to look at the history of a car that’s changed twice in the last 10 years. lol.

Your post had me confused at first but now i understand..

Hi Doug,

Sadly like VW you’re also spinning the truth ! The Jetta SportWagen always was a Golf wagon while the Jetta is an old fat Mexican cousin of the European beigemobile Camry aka the Golf.

Doug, I am going to stop you right there. I normally love your articles, but you are gravely misinformed about the Golf Sportwagen if you think it is at all a Jetta.

You have wrong, Doug. The Golf Sportwagen (BX5) is indeed on the MQB platform and is a longer wheelbase version of the Golf (AU1). The Jetta sedan (163) is a model refresh of the exitsing Jetta (162), which is not on the MQB platform. The pevious Jetta Sportwagen (AJ5), based on the Jetta sedan (162) is no longer in

Well, American car buyers are not renowned for their savvy. Thanks for the supporting evidence, Doug.

But they didn’t just rename it. They put it on a whole new platform, a platform that doesn’t include the Jetta, just the Golf.

I went to school with two Saudi kids whos parents were in control of 75% of the oil fields in their country. They would arrive by private jet, and then helicopter to a nearby airfield. Limousine to campus. Constantly attacking other students in their free time and never getting in trouble.
