LAWL. That’s like, your opinion, man.
LAWL. That’s like, your opinion, man.
This is the kind of thing that really puts me off the Star Wars stuff (and a lot of other modern things as well). You need to .. watch the TV show, read the comic, buy the gum, the stuffed limited edition toy animal, listen to the podcast and subscribe to the magazine to find out who that obscure character that showed…
I gave them credit for at least trying considering I’m sure they had an outline for a script or good idea of what to do before Carrie Fisher died, a la before Heath Ledger died for the (then-potential and most likely) third Nolan Batman movie.
It’s nice that with all the division The Rise of Skywalker is causing we can be united in telling Alex how wrong she is.
The horse aliens worked because they were still within the planet’s atmosphere. Because of some Science Fiction magic reason, the Star Destroyers couldn’t leave the planet without being guided by the antennae they were trying to destroy. Regarding the necklace, I think he was just reaching out of frustration, he…
I didn’t hate it, but it was exactly what I was worried it was going to be: Three hours of JJ going “Shhh! We’re so sorry the Last Jedi hurt you! The bad man is gone now!”
I loved it.
It was a lot going on, kinda messy but damn, I left the theater feeling that “Star Wars” feeling of happiness which I didn’t have after The Last Jedi. There was a lot to like, a lot that left me scratching my head, a lot that felt like course correction/direct responses to The Last Jedi but overall I enjoyed it!
Seriously?
“When I ask drivers if they are their own boss, they usually pause and remark that it’s sort of true, and that they set their own schedule.”
I and many others, including writers on this very website, warned of this, yet no one listened and the corporate agit prop machine was bigger than us.
I would not put it past Uber and Lyft to try take tips. So I tip in cash when possible.
Don’t be a cheap ass. Tip your driver. Preferably in cash.
Ever hear an Uber ad on the radio? Are the ads attempting to attract customers or drivers? It’s drivers.... Because exploiting drivers is more important to their business than attracting customers.
$80 tip plus fare, plus wait time - to go to WAFFLE HOUSE? Why would you not just do one ride to, and another ride home? I don’t get why people pay for the driver to wait. What am I missing? Who are these wierdos?
Yes, Uber, Lyft, et al should pay their drivers more, but can we talk about the complete fucking dick who stopped at Taco Bell?
I drove for Uber for 6 months in a major market. I never saw the $30 they claim. Actual take home after expenses was closer to $12-$17/hr depending on when it was. Tipping was almost nonexistent.
How would you come up with a number of $30/hr? Well you would have to ignore all the expenses the driver incurs (taxes,…
None of this surprises me. I checked out Uber years ago when things were ‘better’. And even back then, their level of compensation was bullshit when you factor in ALL car costs including maintenance, deprecation, taxes, the odd ticket, etc.
Taco Johns is a better choice
The switch from a percentage based compensation for drivers to the Upfront Pricing was the moment drivers became employees. Under the percentage based compensation, drivers created the final fare through the act of driving the passenger - the route they took and the time it took.
