You know the reason they can't, right? If I have this right in my head, the "correct" D-pad design is copyrighted by Nintendo, who have previously sued other console makers for infringing on that copyright. The Xbox's D-pad is very different because it legally has to be. This is also why Playstation conrollers use 4

Of course it's protected by copyright. The developers that wrote the code have first dibs on that copyright, since it's their code. Unless LucasArts has had them sign over the copyright to the company (Which, actually they probably did exactly that) the developers are free to do whatever with it.

Put it this way: Windows 8 on an AMD E-Series (comparable to like an Intel Celeron) looks like it performs about the same as Windows 8 on an i7. Basically, the interface is really really responsive, even though the underlying program logic isn't running at the same speed. Drop down into the desktop (out of Metro) and

My favorite part of it is the open source nature. That sounds like some idealized nonsense that doesn't make any difference, but it does.

Err... I also hang up T-shirts? I thought most people did this. It's very easy to deal with them this way.

"Talking about politics may be taboo for many of us but it doesn't have to be." (period)

At least in Texas, the registration sticker goes inside the windshield on the driver's side. Someone would need to break into my car to steal it; at that point, they might as well go all the way and take the radio (it's a piece of junk) and my computer.

Now playing

Whenever someone brings up menu music, I have to post this. It's just perfect; it perfectly captures the atmosphere before a big tournament, and I could listen to it for hours on end. (I did too; we played Melee to death while I was in high school.)

The main thing that bugged me about the English is the pacing; the actors seemed to be speaking in slow motion. (Maybe I'm just seeing things, but I felt like the animations were all slower too.) Granted, this isn't the worst I've ever seen; she was actually quite good as far as dubs go. I agree though; it's like the

Unless you're programming in assembly, and a JMP instruction is literally all you have for flow control :D

I don't know how well this applies, but when I'm learning to play a complicated song on a piano, once I get to the point where I can do it consistently, I quickly forget what the notes are, and I'll eventually forget how to start it from that point. I can only perform that run in the place that it's supposed to go in

In concept, this "significant engineering" option is very simple: it's called a local server, and most games with LAN support run them. A great common example is Minecraft, which recently switched to this model to make the lives of their developers much easier.

That is some really impressive modeling. I realize that all of the charm of Ghibli is from its 2D hand-drawn style, but I could see this working for videogame adaptations of any of the works, etc etc.

I agree, but in a way it fits. (The Japanese is only a bit better because I don't feel like the pacing is quite as slow.) She isn't really happy; it's a very forced and bittersweet moment. I remember hating that scene the first time I played the game, and then you figure out what's going on and suddenly it's very deep

If it were up to me at this point, I would delete this post. I'm sorry; I offended people by stating my opinion and got attacked for it. I can't very well reply to all of you, so I'll just put this here.

I'm all for crowdsourcing. The community is *very good* at marking comments as spam given the opportunity; certainly this would be a lot faster than asking the mods to do it? If a post receives like 5 [report spam] marks, just auto-hide it, then you can ban users whose posts are always being hidden.

Java does have some legitimate uses (namely Minecraft) but it's generally an awful thing. It's not a very nice language to program in (it *forces* object oriented design, which quite frankly is a poor fit for many projects, especially very simple ones) it is very slow, and its memory manager causes more strain than it

The Wii U is certainly a possibility; unfortunately, Nintendo is a *lot* stricter with its licensing compared to the other platforms, which would be the major hurdle. It may well be doable, but it sounds like the team simply doesn't want to deal with the hassle.

This is where I point out that there's an *excellent* mod-of-a-mod in development called Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders. (Warning! Facebook link incoming: http://www.facebook.com/SonicEther )
