Catholicism is strange. Depending on where you are in the country they seem like completely different religions. Growing up in the liberal Catholic Northeast I almost never heard about abortion. Move to an area that is not from Covington and it was all I ever heard on Sundays. It didn’t take long for me to stop going.

The Liberty University folks don't consider Catholics to be Christian, so that will be problematic.

Just going to plug my favorite extension here: Make America Kittens Again. It does a reasonably good job of replacing photos of Trump with pictures of cute kittens. Highly recommend and wish it worked in apps. There is a custom block feature so I also don’t have to see pictures of Mitch McConnell.

The Courier-Journal is the closest thing we have to good journalism in Kentucky, despite being constantly harangued for being “leftwing conspiracy Trump-hatin’ commie snowflake libs” or whatever other unprintable things they are calling us these days.

I especially like the shitty aftermarket LED lamps that flicker so you tell the driver is a garbage human from a 1/2 mile away.

It will never make it into production, but I adore that bench seat in front.

You might be onto something. Without coal to get out of Appalachia there won’t be too many reasons for cash-strapped red states to keep maintaining all the roads through the mountains. For the few people who remain in the hollers of West Virginia and Eastern KY in a decade or two, going back to horse and buggy might

I’d say those farmers aren’t just shut out of the soybean market in China for the time being, but instead for the foreseeable future. A lot of those contracts have gone to farmers in other countries. Once you lose a customer it is hard, and expensive to get them back.

I used to work for a non-profit where I occasionally supervised state prisoners who were on work release or in a halfway house-like program. Most of them were constantly sick and had this horrible rancid/chemically odor. One day one of the guys showed me his lunch. Two slices of bread and a single slice of this

You must hang around some nicer libertarians than I do. Had to love my college econ professor (endowed chair by a big name pro-libertarian CEO you have heard of). “Without government intervention, here is the supply curve for health care, and here is the demand curve. People above this point have health care, those

That’s Cerrunnos, Lord of the Forest. The Pence’s are secretly Pagan. Their white bread exterior is a best attempt to assimilate. That’s why they come off as so hollow. Fortunately, since Christmas is already pretty much a pagan holiday they can lose the charade for a bit and loosen up.

All of that stench would have been nothing compared to the smell of rancid grease. It is a truly stomach wrenching smell and given that it went out of business I’m willing to bet that restaurant wasn’t having its hoods cleaned regularly.

Can we talk for a minute about who the f**k goes to Hawaii and orders New England clam chowder? And bread bowl?

When not cooking in cast iron I’m a huge fan of older Revereware. You know, the copper-bottomed pots your grandma used. Hit up thrift stores or ebay for an older set (I understand the newer sets have gone to cheaper construction). They are inexpensive, heat evenly and are indestructible. Every once in a blue moon I’ll

Tough to do if you’re typing one-handed....if you know what I mean. “Is there anything else I can help you with today,” indeed.

Watch her daughters too. They are definitely doing the “what’s wrong with Mommy” glance. I don’t see them looking at their father at all.

The folks I know who work at Amazon have said its an across the board wage increase, so it will raise all boats, not just those at the base, at least in their sorting and packaging facilities near me.

Weezer’s cover of “Africa” is totally lame, but somehow Weird Al doing an equally lame cover of Weezer Covering Africa while also at the same time “covering” the video for Undone while wearing the sweater from the“Buddy Holly” video which was itself sort of a cover of “Happy Days” is just exponentially meta enough to

Ironically, from what I’ve read, Harlan Sanders biographers don’t think he used the term. They acknowledge that he used the term “negro” which would have been contemporaneous, and of course the racial history of the seersucker plantation owners suit, but also point out that there no evidence he was in the Klan,

Philosophical questions aside, Seneca State Forest in West Virginia is entirely within the National Radio Quiet Zone for the nearby Green Bank Observatory. No cell phones, no wi-fi, even microwave ovens can be banned if you are close enough to the radio telescope. We stayed a week in some cabins nearby that used
