Yeah the mass banning of books like Gender Queer or Maus by Republicans is a lot closer to the whole its 1984 buzz phrase. Of course the reactionaries cheer that on because they deem it degenerative filth. Free speech for all unless I hate the minorities in it.

No it doesn’t. Notice how the article points out (and the comment section largely reiterates) the outrage this is causing?

This is similar to the controversy surrounding that lawmaker who said “birthing people”. It’s not really a thing one person/group did/said something stupid with the best of intentions and were

Bridgers is always irritating the sensitivities of classic rock butt babies. She caught a good bit of shit last year for calling Eric Clapton mediocre.

Yeah, I’m truly gobsmacked about this. I was a big-time grunger and I distinctly remember hoping for instrumental destruction at the end of every show I ever attended.

Do we need an actual reason to smash stuff? It’s just fun to do

I am just going to say this but she should have retired in 2014 when the Dems still held the Senate and she knew she had end stage pancreatic cancer. She was an icon but that doesn’t mean she didn’t fuck us totally by not stepping down.

‘Mrs Peel, we’re needed!’

HARD PASS

For sure the best move, or at least the best move that doesn’t involve them all getting Green Lantern rings and becoming Space Cops.

They played on Saturday Night live at least 3 times. I really don’t understand the hype this mediocre band gets

I think it’s a reasonable assumption that Diana Gabaldon has a rape fetish.

Summary of Shakespeare: everyone dies!
Summary of Outlander: everyone gets raped!

At this point, the Frasers could have a family dinner bonding over their shared experience of rape. I’m with the reviewer- it’s over the top, redundant, and shitty entertainment.

The Secret Commonwealth is OUT? WHY DIDN’T I KNOW ABOUT THIS? That really was low-key.

I’m in the middle of the first book and the writing and build-up are wonderful.

I’ve just started the first one on my Kindle. Give me a week or so.

It is cloying childish music. Mass produced garbage praised by Buzzfeed poptimists and outlets that make a cut on big studio releases.

The series will conclude when our heroes discover the way to defeat the walkers is not with hate, but with love.

Trump is, undoubtedly, a terrible person. The Bush presidency was a well oil machine, manned by frothing psychopaths who managed to forever shift norms regarding military engagement and government surveillance. Trump couldn’t hope to be 1/10 as effective as Chaney, Rove or Rumsfeld.

4 out of the past 5 seasons have followed almost exactly the same beats, and while that has lead to some amazing television (I think season 2 is a high water mark for television), it now feels less like a thesis statement about change and more that the writers just do not know how to move the show forward, and so keep

More and more with each episode, this show behaves as if the writers have no idea what to do with the amount of episodes they were given. The result is still good, Gilead is still one of the most horrifying distopyas ever, all technical sides are great - but it does feel wheel-spinning.
