The notifications panel kind of offers something like that. While you can't view each message individually, if you leave the notifications turned on for each app, they'll let you know and tapping the notification will take you to the message (or your mailbox for emails).

I wouldn't call Dreamhost bad. I don't run any high traffic sites, but I'm hosting 4 sites, 3 of which are database driven on their MySQL shared hosting platforms. Unlimited bandwidth, diskspace, all for $11/month? I'm not complaining :)

A beautiful interface will only get you so far. My guess is it's Flash-based, and we all know what that means. Would you put up with your landline phone crashing mid-call? We hate when our cell phones drop calls... and when Flash crashes and tanks the app, then what?

Try a VPN service:

I was thinking more like truecrypt... an encrypted file container containing the unencrypted backup that iTunes would mount when needed, managing the encryption keys automatically.

Honestly, it's really not that hard. Most of the popular distros have a guided installation process for the desktop and server installs. What in particular are you looking to do, perhaps an application guide would be better suited (i.e., configuring a LAMP server)?

Good luck today!

I'd hope Apple has figured out a way to just access the encrypted data store and still do incrementals. Seems like a pretty straightforward implementation.

Taking the weekend off to head up to Portland, Maine. Looking forward to 2 days off, many miles from home (and the office!)

I hear that! My local Apple store, though less than a 2 miles from my apartment, is smack in the middle of the mall. Parking there sucks, and walking inside the mall is even worse. People are nuts!

Streaming music? That defeats the entire sound quality argument. SQ on streaming media is utter crap. I'd rather listen to my 320kbps MP3s. I bought the iPod this morning anyway :)

Oh, I've got the good earbuds covered. I lost my Shure SE-115's on a plane a while back, but since then I bought a pair of Klipsch Image s4's, and honestly, they're better sounding and more comfortable than the Shure's were :)

I'm thinking about buying a new iPod Classic for my music collection. I have too much music to fit on my 32GB iPhone 4, not that I listen to all of it, but I get tired of the music on my phone from time to time and just want something different. Not really into managing my music syncing manually, so I was thinking the

If you've got a Mac, then check out Sous Chef. Got it in a MacHeist or something similar a year or two ago. Absolutely love it.

Before you go out to an Apple store for a repair/refurb, just try restoring it. Hook it up to iTunes, restore the software, and sync any media/apps back to it. See if that helps any.

Hell yes! Awesome album!

I don't know if I personally agree with the whole "one of the major draws of online shopping is avoiding the cost of sales tax" bit. I don't consider sales tax on internet purchases as a draw at all. In fact, I'd be happy to pay sales tax on my purchases since it means I don't have to go to the big box stores or

Seriously? Is this supposed to be funny? I get the whole "internet meme" thing, but honestly, give it a rest.

You didn't mention whether you're on Windows or Mac (and I'm unfamiliar with YamiPod), but you might want to try Senuti...

its pacific time :)
