What’s the fastest car you’ve ever driven? Or the car with the most horsepower? I have yet to say I don’t want anymore. That I’ve had enough. Seriously. It’s like sex, or chocolate, or an all you can eat buffet. There is no point in stopping at enough. More is always better. 11.
The NSX may be a good car, but how many $150k cars are really bought by drivers? I think it’s too much work to explain what the hell it is every time you show up at dinner. Much easier for the divorced LA dude to walk in and have his friends say “Nice 911.”
That one doesn’t count. No mater how much Spinelli wants it to...
Fusion isn’t on Comcast? That’s what I have in Chicago and LA. You need to get this streaming or were all going to miss it.
“We look to the 1990s as a time of modern comforts coupled with impressive performance and experimental technology.”
My Baja Pig is an inline 3.0ltr six. Meant maybe I should start with something that started life with a V8. Like a Corvette. But yeah V8 Corvette is the same thing.
I love that series. I have signed originals of most of his books. Actually when The Last Open Road came out I went to hear Burt speak at the Oak Park library. It was great. It was room of 70 year olds and me, one car guy. I enjoyed the talk and had a ton of questions and he hung around and answered them all. Also…
Mine would be a picture of a sawzall and a BMW with no roof in the background!
Oh you should read Car. Its excellent and an incredible look into what goes into a car redesign. https://www.amazon.com/Car-American-Workplace-Mary-Walton/dp/0393318613
Ok that one I forget. So true. Its an excellent read and if you don’t know the story you should buy that book right now. I guess I’ve heard it so many times. The Grand Tour covered it with the Ford GT and then Top Gear did the same thing. I sort of know it so well I forgot about the book. But it is good and you should…
I never really got into Smokey. Seriously. I know he’s right up there with them but this was originally a list of my favorite car books and the title got changed slightly. With “Definitive” in there, Smokey should have been on the list a long with a few others.
I have a few of those regrets as well. Its even worse when you finally track the book down and its two or three times the price!
Agreed! Unchained is excellent. So is Faster, Fastest, Hitting the Apex, The Joey Dunlop Story on Amazon, and a bunch of the other motorcycle movies. Cars are still my favorite though.
Matt and I are friends. Our schedules don’t overlap too often but I should be in LA soon and we’ll see if they have a slot for me to go back on. Might make more sense to do right after the Baja 1000 when we go back with the Baja Pig though.
Sort of! I was trying to sneak out today to pick up a used Sparco seat for a 4dr E36 track car Im getting ready to sell. But that’s been postponed. I’m going to CarFest next weekend at Mid-ohio. Im speaking at the dinner Friday night and then camping out and running the track sessions and autocross too. …
That was written on the back of the car during service at the 2009 Lake Superior Performance rally. I’ll see if I can write up that story tonight as it was one of the better ones.
Moments before the crash inside the drivers head... “This is awesome. I can’t wait to see the video! I bet I look like Gittin Jr. But I’m so glad I left the traction control on. I mean sure, I’m not all sideways, but there’s no way I’m losing control and fishtailing into the crowd like Im at cars and coffee.
I could write a book on just this alone. I’ve done some pretty crazy ones.... from a using ratchet straps to hang the motor when both engine mounts broke to reversing the fuel pump while banging it on the side of the car to free the pebble it sucked to cutting my up my skid plate and JB welding it into a box to jb…
What is Killboy.com??
Top Gear America is a decent tv show; its just a really bad car show.
