Everyone was into the series in New York, even Mets fans. It had a very similar feel to last year’s World Series, when everyone (including Yankees fans) would run up to telling me they were rooting for the Mets. Between Torre’s personal strife and the fact that it was against the perennially-awesome Braves, people ate

This is mine, too. I was a senior in HS, and as a 17 year old Mets fan living my whole life on Long Island who suffered through the entire Yankees dynasty AND had to endured them beating the Mets in the Series the year before, I flipped out when the Yankees melted down in the ninth in Game 7. It’s also probably one of

Also probably worth noting Lawler was arrested in 1999 for throwing a traffic ticket at a Memphis police officer, and running over the officer’s foot.

Holy shit, so many stars for Clarence Mason!

I was at Shea in 2000 when Benny Agbayani did this against the Giants in an actual close game (one-run) game. Mets were up 1-0 with runners on second and third and one out. Jeff Kent scored on the sac fly, then Ellis Burks scored on the mental lapse. Put the Giants up 2-1.

Especially the last one, man. Jets were a win away from the Super Bowl in ‘09 and ‘10. On Christmas Eve 2011, they need a win over the 7-7 Giants (who just came off a brutal home loss to Washington, who went 5-11 that year) to sure up a playoff spot. It also happened to be my first Christmas married to my wife, spent

We shall see. Theo loves to get active at the deadline, even with a good team (see: ‘04 Garciaparra trade), so it’ll be interesting to watch develop.

TRX: Taking up valuable gym floor real estate since five years ago when people decided this shit was trendy.

Tell your grandpa you want to be a catcher, and catch doubleheaders until you’re 27 years old! That did it for me.

Because, in Cleveland, the Browns are 1) the only team, and 2) part of that culture, ya know? Like, don’t get me wrong, I don’t envy you as a Browns fan, but at least it’s part of that city-wide suffering that will be (partially) eased when one of those teams wins a title.

Get in line, Muhammad. You’ve been here five years, and at least you get paid. Imagine rooting for this shit franchise for 32 years, and actually paying money to support it?

I know, I know. Theo, if you’re reading this: Juuuuuuust kidding!

Hold on...the Nationals have fans?

LOL Tell me about it, man. It was just one jamoke, but I’m sure there are more than a few out there that think it’s a great idea.

True, except the Mets moved to 710 WOR last year. So FAN now has the Yankees, and with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, it’s even LESS listenable.

Here’s what I’ll say to that (and I’m a Mets fan, so I really don’t have a horse in this race):

In New York, it’s already been insufferable.

Yup, you’re right. When they said “one or two years pro,” it made it seem like guys in the third year of their entry level deal would be available. But, like you said, that’s not the case.

We need the PA to ratify the rules, and then we’ll all know for sure.

Exactly, though therein lies a question that we need clarity on. Someof those high-priced guys have no-moves, and if honored, teams will be forced to protect them (Boychuk, for example, has a no-move for 17-18). If that’s the case, it really puts a team that has a deep defense corps (like the Islanders) out of wack,
