I am questioning whether you actually even read the first book. Your description of LotR could fit the first book of WoT very easily. It starts very small, with 3 village boys in a farming community, dreaming about the outside world, and then events seen through the eyes of the main characters draws the story out into

Also, no more sex at all, unless between people basically or actually married and entirely implied/off-screen. Maybe some light making out for others but that’s as far as Sanderson goes.

His more recent book have far better dialogue. The Wax and Wayne books are frankly amazing in that regard.
